Great news for all the Waits fanatics on this board. I know there are at least three of us. Here's the official album bio from Tom's newly revamped website:

Available November 23rd, Glitter and Doom is a 2 disc collection of the best of the best tracks from Tom Waits' sold out, highly acclaimed Glitter and Doom tour of the US and Europe in the summer of 2008.

Disc One is designed to sound like one evening's performance, even though the 17 tracks are selected from 10 cities, from Paris to Birmingham; Tulsa to Milan; and Atlanta to Dublin. Sonically the album is superb and has been beautifully recorded and meticulously mastered . Disc Two is a bonus compendium called TOM TALES, which is a selection of the comic bromides, strange musings, and unusual facts that Tom traditionally shares with his audience during the piano set. Waits' topics range from the ritual of insects to the last dying breath of Henry Ford.

Musically, the live disc features all eras of Waits' eclectic glory as he shifts seamlessly from an array of characters: carnival barker, preacher, country singer, soul balladeer; cabaret singer and storyteller. Backed by a versatile 5 piece band, Waits departs from the songs' original incarnations. The songs instrumentation and rhythms are rearranged and reimagined. Swampy tribal rhythms, ominous hymns, gypsy flavored ballads, searing rhythmic r&b, and blues boogies. angular and surreal rock are all present. The songs, as expected ,are about hanged men, woebegone sailors, sword swallowers, fugitives, shamans, ghosts, dance instructors and prison guards.

Hey everyone

I was bummed to hear that 2 shows were cancelled, but hopefully they are recovering quickly and will make the two stops and the end of this week. Get well soon boys! I am waiting to reserve a hotel room for the Syracuse show, when do you think we will hear if the last two are a go or not? I will bring Thera-Flu and vitamin C packs for the band for Saturday night.

Lets share information when we hear anything about the the last two shows here.

Silverjet, Cordelia, and Emperor Penguin please in Syracuse.

  New Laptop... Need Hipbase Geek Help (You know who you are)

Well, I woke up this morning ecstatic that my laptop was broken (again)! No that's not sarcasm, seeing as this is the fourth major hardware repair under my Futureshop warranty, I get a new laptop. I'm going to have to pay some extra anyways in order to update everything a little bit so I figure I might as well keep my mind open.

I'm familiar with a PC (that's all I've ever used) but I'm interested in getting a Mac primarily for Garageband. My laptop is technically for school (I write lab reports, papers and download lecture notes for class on it) but I get a lot more personal use out of it (music, games, etc.). What's the oppinions out there. I'm almost sure I had a thread similar to this when I got my first laptop a couple of years back, but with the new OS available on Mac and PC since then, would like a fresh perspective.

No rush, I know it takes time to get together (especially DVD's), but I was just curious if anyone recorded any of the Ottawa shows, audio or video?

One thing I noticed at the Massey Hall shows I went to, was how much Gord was talking and interacting with the crowd. More than just the customary things he says over the intro to some of the songs, but was introducing songs, giving background on the idea behind them etc. I just listened to a couple of the Hamilton bootlegs, and he doesn't seem to be as chatty now... I wonder why.

Just an observation.

I heard this on The Current earlier today and then saw this at the on the O'Shaughnessy Theatre website:

This show has been cancelled.

I was just wondering if anyone could explain the discrepancy between the setlists posted here and the ones on thehip.com.
Just as an example thehip.com has the following shows listed having played Unplucked Gems on this tour
10/28/2009 Belly Up Tavern
10/19/2009 9:30 Club
10/16/2009 Byham Theater
06/13/2009 The Fillmore
06/02/2009 Artpark
however I'm pretty sure that it was only played at the last 3 shows (16,19,28Oct)
is thehip.com based strictly off of printed setlists?
Of course it also has Reformed Baptist Blues listed as the first song played at Centennial Concert Hall: Winnipeg, MB: Canada: 09/10/2009
1: Reformed Bapist Blues
2: New Orleans Is Sinking
3: The Drop-Off ....
and I highly doubt they pulled that out after not playing it for 18 years and no one really blinked.

It seems odd that the official site is inaccurate

For sale is one pair of 2010 season seats in Section 223, Row 22. These are great seats - centre field section, covered from the rain.

Approximately $1900 - selling for face value but I have not received the final invoice yet. Once I do I will confirm the cost.

I am just selling the tickets - not the seat rights.
