  "Hidden"?

I just noticed at the bottom of the main forum page, there were two users on here that were hidden. I've noticed before but didn't really give a crap. Now I'm just curious, why would someone be hidden? If someone is having a problem with someone else on the Hipbase, they could just tattle on them and live worry-free right? Is there another reason? Who are these mysterious users?

So now we have the answer the the legendary question: life imitates art.

In an episode of The Simpsons, a town hall meeting is held and Marge looks around and says "Wow! I think every person in town came out!" The show then shows Snake and a bunch of other hoodlums robbing houses with alarms going off and they don't care because nobody's around. Snake says "Could the people in this town BE any stupider?!"

Today both John Kerry and Bush are in Davenport, Iowa giving campaign speeches stumping in this state that could go either way in the election. 90% of the Davenport Police (and the county cops) are assigned to cover security for both Kerry and Bush all day. This morning at 11:14 a bank was robbed in the city. At 11:28 another was robbed in the suburbs. Then, at 11:43, a third bank was robbed in the southwest...all right in the middle of campaign speeches by both candidates.

Could the people in that town BE any stupider? :lol:

I love this album. Yes, yes I do.

But I'm still shocked at how the majority of the people are saying it's the Hip's masterpiece.
I would have suggested Phantom Power.

However, I probably need to give it much more attention. I have only recently grown to really, and truly, appreciate the album Music @ Work after steady listening. Perhaps after some more attention I will understand the DFN craze.

However, I would love to know why everyone loves it so much.

I've seen this mentioned a couple of times on here before. Can anyone fill me in on disc (or frisbee golf)?

For example, is this usually just a show up and play in a park kind-of-thing, or is it a make a "tee" time and pay to play kind-of-thing? Also, can I expect to show up and rent or borrow discs, or do you have to own your own equipment before you play? I saw somewhere that there are different types of discs used for different types/lengths of shots. Is it necessary to carry around a bag of discs, or will one do? I also read that a regular sized frisbee is too large, but I wanted to confirm that.

Specifically, I'm wondering about playing on Toronto Island when I'm in the area. Is there anyone in the area who knows about that course in particular, and the availability of disc and cost of playing there?

This review came up when I played IBE on media player...thought I'd post it. The writer makes some good points..

The first few seconds of In Between Evolution offer a summation in miniature of both why the Tragically Hip are so great and why mainstream success has eluded them, at least in the United States. A distorted guitar chimes out a road-ready riff, soon joined by a taut rhythm section. Then lead singer Gordon Downie shouts out "Here's a glue guy, a performance God," in a pinched howl that sounds like it's ready to veer off-key at any second. That combination of arena rock and indie sensibility is exactly what fans have come to expect from the band; the approach isn't all that different from Pearl Jam's more recent work, except that Downie's lyrics have always been, well, weirder and more literate than the hits that took Pearl Jam to the top of the charts. None of that explains why the Hip still sell out stadiums and sell millions of albums in their native Canada, but In Between Evolution is both accessible and challenging enough to satisfy longtime fans and newcomers. The slight dissonance that marks that opening track, Heaven Is a Better Place Today, fits perfectly the combination of mourning and triumph that the band captures in the song, a tribute to hockey player Dan Snyder, who died in a car crash in late 2003. When Downie sings "If and when you get into that end zone, act like you've been there a thousand times before," he breathes new life into the tired sports cliché because what's come before is so evocative and honestly rendered, and also because there's not another cliché to be found for the duration of the album, which is one of the band's hardest rocking and most politically charged. It Can't Be Nashville Every Night takes aim at Toby Keith and the mindless, macho jingoism he represents, while Gus: The Polar Bear from Central Park further dissects the "us and them" mentality Downie sees overtaking the world around him, particularly in the U.S. As usual, guitarists Rob Baker and Paul Langlois offer sympathetic accompaniment, giving Gus a sinewy, sinister feel that perfectly mirrors the lyrics' portrayal of a beast out to destroy whatever frightens it. The band thunders through almost every track, a juggernaut of guitars and drums that lets up only toward the end, easing back on the sonic assault on the rueful Are We Family, where Downie tries to comprehend our common humanity in the face of a world where we're "taking care of each other one bullet to another." In Between Evolution is as rewarding as it is relentless, another fine addition to the Tragically Hip's catalog of thinking person's rock. ~ Eric Schumacher-Rasmussen, All Music Guide

Just wondering what everyone else uses for their internet browser.
I've used Mozilla a while ago (I really miss the tabbed browsing), but got rid of it because it was in early stages of development and it was too buggy. Using IE now and hate it, too many flaws, lack of security and features.

I've heard from a number of people that Mozilla Firefox is the way to go. I guess it works flawlessly with all the major plugins such as Google toolbar, Java, Quicktime, etc... and is extremely secure and stable.

Any thoughts?

so are there any cons fans out there in tragically hip land?

any one seen em live recently?

any one have any cons bootlegs? in particular im looking for the cover songs they do live "cortez" by neil young and "temporary thing" velvet underground/ lou reed??

So yeah the Cons rule and if youve never seen or heard them you are missing a truely great band..

Need a hand with a flash effect. Here's what I would like to do:

Take a straight line like this: -
and have it morph into a curved line like this: ~

Normally I would just convert the initial straight line into a symbol, go 25 frames down and insert a keyframe and then use the free transform on the symbol to whatever, and then tween it. But when it's converted to a symbol, you lose the option to use the curve tool on the line so I can't do what I want it to do.

I'm sure there's a way, but I don't know all the tricks (yet).
