I wanna get into Pearl Jam, and I want some advice. I dont know where to begin with their catalogue. My question is, what would be the first choice of album for getting into them. For example, I would tell just about anyone getting into The Hip to pick up Road Apples, no question.

What albums the best place to start?

Does anyone know where this can from? I just won it on ebay for about 5 bucks canadian.

Hi all,

I bought 2 tickets to the Cirque du Soleil show Alegria in Toronto for my girlfriend for her birthday. The tickets are for Wednesday August 25. However, since then I found out that my cousin is getting married in Winnipeg on August 28 'n I won't be able to make the show (since we're driving out to Winnipeg). I was going to post the tickets on e-bay to see if I can make some money off of them, but I figured I'd post them here first in case there is a fellow Hipbase-er that I can help out.

Here are the details:

Section 104, Row BB, Seat 11-12 (Door 8)

Tickets cost $95 each.

Tickets = $190.00
Service Charge = $11.50
Handling Fees = $4.90

The seats are in the 2nd row, but with the way the stage jets out, the first row (AA) doesn't exist in front of these seats, so there is actually no one between you and the stage. Check out the seating chart here:

In addition, your ticket gets you free grounds admission to Ontario Place. This offer is valid after the date of the performance and can be used any time during the 2004 season.

I would really like to get my money back ($206.40), so please don't try to offer me $180 or any discounted prices for the tickets. I have yet to post it at work or on any other boards.

anyone catch the trews show at my cottage in port dalhousie on sunday. Was pretty good...and closed there first set with wheat kings...not a bad job i might add

I'm just kidding of course, but has anyone else noticed the ever increasing level of posting going on around here. Not so long ago, I used to be able to check once a day, and quickly read all of the posts since my last visit. Now I stay logged on most of the day at work, and am constantly refreshing to see what I've missed. I'm having a hard time getting anything done! Anyone looking to hire a soon to be unemployeed engineer (just don't give me internet access)?

Our buddy, and charter member of the Hugh Dillon Redemption Choir, "lilproud" was lucky enough to see the Hip and Sarah Harmer play a private gig recently. The boys apparently broke out cover tunes and everything! He mentioned this over in the Non Hip forum, but I figured it deserved a mention here... as I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd be willing to cut off an apendage to hear this... or maybe even just a few more details! :jump

After about 50 listens I've gotta say this song is probably one of their 10 best. Powerful lyrics and just a treat to listen to day after day. Anyone else love this song as much as me?

Is anybody else goin' to check out the legendary Dickey Betts (of Allman Brothers fame) for FREE on Saturday August 14th?
Show starts at 5:30 pm with 2 opening bands and ends at 10 pm...
After the Betts' show, we may be headin' to Alternative Brews to check out a great band from Corning, NY called the Brainbell Janglers.

If anybody is going, and if you'd like to party beforehand at my buddy's place across the street from the park, let me know! Him and his wife are having a little gathering. Food will be supplied, but BYOB...

Dickey Betts, a founding member of the Allman Brothers Band, has one of the most distinctive voices in music today. Known as one of the most influential guitar players of all time, Betts has mastered a seamless style of lyrical melody and rhythm -- marrying country, jazz, blues, and rock into one unparalleled sound. The New York Times has called Betts "one of the great rock guitarists…[who thinks like a jazz improviser, in thoughtfully structured, cleanly articulated, intelligently paced phrases…[when] Mr. Betts was tearing into one of his improvisations, the music was about as exciting as rock and roll gets."

Playing since he can remember, Betts joined several bands in the sixties and eventually formed a band with bassist Berry Oakley. One fateful night in 1969, Betts and Oakley's band jammed with another local group featuring Duane and Gregg Allman, marking the birth of the Allman Brothers Band.

In addition to matching band leader Duane Allman lick for lick, Betts also wrote such memorable songs as "Revival" and the instrumental tour de force "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed." After Duane Allman and Berry Oakley were killed in accidents a year apart in 1971 and 1972, the ABB worked through their sorrow, with Betts writing and singing the group's biggest hit, "Ramblin' Man".
