Anyone else here going? Just bought mine this afternoon, man im excited. I still dont know exactly how im getting there, I just know Im going. I was planning to do Portland and Seattle, but it no longer looks as though Seattles going to happen (Seattle show is 21+ :x ). Anyone know what kind of venue the Aladdin Theatre is?

(note: I went with everything ending in 4 because I felt that in addition to matching up with 2004, it divided musical culture into more appropriate denominations than 60s, 70s, etc...1969 has more in common with '73 than '62, for instance, and the "80s music" we all know and hate was mid-to-late 80s very early 90s)

I'm really interested to know if anybody else listens to as much old music as I do...I picked 64-74:

- Bob Dylan went electric, and so did Muddy Waters
- Neil Young emerged from the shadows of BS and CSNY
- Duane Allman had the Midas touch: his work with ABB, Eric Clapton and others was all SOLID GOLD
- American rock hits its zenith as blues became mainstream and influenced legions of white boys

Just thought I'd share my thoughts. I've been a fan of this song since the first time I ever heard all of Day For Night. In all the midst of the new tour dates, and the Kingston show, I was really thinking just what song I would love to hear live; this is it. Not played in nine years. It deserves its due.

"I love you even when / I don't even know I'm doing it"

So simple, yet probably my favourite Downie lyric.

With all of this talk about Least Favourite Album (which is a great way to put it - it doesn't necessarily mean the album stinks, just that you feel that it isn't as good as others) how do y'all treat that least favourite album? Do you still listen to the full CD, but not as much as others? Do you not play the CD at all? Did you add the songs you like from the least favourite album to some sort of self-made Hip compilation CD to avoid the tracks you don't like?

For example, I'm an iPod junkie and I've rated each of my 7,000 songs on iTunes' 5 point scale. My Hip playlist is set up so that songs that I've rated a 4 or 5 are the only songs played. Since IVL is my least fave Hip CD, it has the fewest tracks in that playlist - that way I can avoid Are You Ready (1 star) like the plague, but The Darkest One and Silver Jet (among others) still get there fair share of listens.

Anyway, just curious how others deal with their least favourite dilemna....

I wanted to take up Lord Brazle's suggestion about a poll for which album has the best lyrics, but being a complete computer moron, I can't figure out how to generate polls cratch: So let me launch a thesis instead:

-Downie's lyrics got too abstract and obtuse in M@W. 'You loaded the variables like acquisitions from under the germ-led advance?' The only non-asbtraction there is the verb 'loaded.' And is there a flatter come-on in rock and roll than 'we could skip to the coital fury?'

-IVL marked an improvement but some of the same problems remained: e.g., even the wonderful 'Dire Wolf' goes all scholarly ('the colourable seas...made one think of...' etc.) before hitting the great chorus.

-IBE has him roaring back into form with sharp, focused, disciplined lyrics. 'He said fuck this fuck that and this guy's the diplomat'...all of Gus...the incredible imagery on 'You Are Everywhere...' etc.

Whaddaya think? :mrgreen:

SEATTLE, Washington (Reuters) -- A black bear was found passed out at a campground in Washington state recently after guzzling down three dozen cans of a local beer, a campground worker said on Wednesday.

"We noticed a bear sleeping on the common lawn and wondered what was going on until we discovered that there were a lot of beer cans lying around," said Lisa Broxson, a worker at the Baker Lake Resort, 80 miles (129 km) northeast of Seattle.

The hard-drinking bear, estimated to be about two years old, broke into campers' coolers and, using his claws and teeth to open the cans, swilled down the suds.

It turns out the bear was a bit of a beer sophisticate. He tried a mass-market Busch beer, but switched to Rainier Beer, a local ale, and stuck with it for his drinking binge.

Wildlife agents chased the bear away, but it returned the next day, said Broxson.

They set a trap using as bait some doughnuts, honey and two cans of Rainier Beer. It worked, and the bear was captured for relocation.

I love how tried a couple different ones and stuck with his favourite. :lol:

Has anyone had any big problems with Maple Music? I ordered something from them about a month ago and was told it should be shipped in a couple of days. Since then, I have sent 2 e-mails and have received no reply (or shipment). I have also searched for the item again and have not got a warning that the item is out of stock.

Has anyone had any negative experiences with Maple Music and, if so, how did they deal with the situation? I only tried them out because people here seemed to consider them quite reputable.
