kicked ass, one of the better ones in recent memory, probably since 18 @ Skydome with Rock vs. Hogan and HHH vs. Jericho.

Eddie Guerrero vs. Rey Mysterio Jr.:

Rey beat Eddie, didn't see the match, it was first on the bill.

6 Man "Money In The Bank" Ladder Match:

great match, tons of action, some incredible moves involving ladders by Sheldon Benjamin. Benoit looked poised to grab the brief case suspended above the ring, but out of nowhere Edge came in and cranked Benoit off the ladder with a chair, and then climbed up and won it. i figured Edge would win, and I'm glad he did.

Undertaker vs. Randy Orton:

Orton put up a hell of a fight, and almost had the Taker beat a few times, including when Taker got leveled by Randy's dad Bob Orton's cast, but the dead man battled back, and when Orton tried to tombstone him, he countered, and nailed Orton with a tombstone...1, 2, 3.


Trish vs. Christy:

Trish kicked her ass, bad, haha, wasn't much of a match.

in between matches, Eugene came out, and was confronted by Muhammad Hassan, Hassan pummeled him, but then to everyone's surprise/delight the one, the only....


HULK HOGAN CAME OUT AND STOMPED HIM! Classic Wrestlemania moment!

Shawn Michaels vs. Kurt Angle:

this was IMO the hihglight of the match, some great technical wrestling at first, then it broke out into a brawl, tons of highflying manoveurs by both men, people getting put through tables, crashing into steps and posts, it had it all. Angle hit the Angle slam twice, once from the top rope, but HBK kicked out both times! HBK hit Sweet Chin Muci, but Angle kicked out! finally, Angle locked in the ankle lock for the third time in the match, and held on for dear life, and MICHAELS TAPPED OUT! having hated Michales ever since he screwed bret, and knowing that Bret's favourite wrestler (in today's WWE) is Angle, i was really glad to see Angle make him tap, Angle's the man!

Big Show vs. Aki Bono SUMO MATCH(sp?)

this was really cool, and i''m pretty sure it was a real Sumo match too, anyway, pretty even at first with neither man giving much up, but eventually Big Show's inexperience cost him, and Aki just launched his 7-foot ass straight out of the ropeless ring, definately another classic Wrestlemania moment.


Piper's Pit WITH STONE COLD!

Piper and Stone Cold were at each others throats right away, with Piper slapping Austin, and then Austin returning the favour, they bickered some more, and then Carlito came out to tell them that nobody wanted to see them, and that they weren't "coooool", he started tossing his apple, but then Piper snatched it away, bit into it, and then spit it back in his face. Carlito then started wailing on him, but Stone Cold pulled him off and hammered on him for a bit, then Piper poked Carlito in the eye, sent him back to Stone Cold, and he got stunnered. Austin then celebrated with Piper and they downed a six pack, and just as Piper was finishing his last can, he got stunnered too! haha! good to have Stone Cold back.

CENA vs. JBL:

pretty solid contest, JBL dominated for most of the match, but in the end, Cena dodged the Clothesline from hell, gave him a boot, the F U, and pinned him for the title. i was shocked that JBL didn't have anyone interfere at any point during the match.

HHH vs. Batista

HHH had Motorhead play his theme live for his entrance, and he came up on a platform right in the middle of the band...pretty back and forth at first, neither man really had an advantage, til HH tried to pedigree him onto the steps, and then Batista countered and monkey flipped him into the ring post, after that it was all downhill for HHH, he got stomped. the ref got hurt, and then Flair got involved, and he got stomped too, but HHH grabbed the belt, and wailed Batista with it, and covered him, but Batista kicked out, and fought back. Batist had HHH set up for the Batista Bomb, but HHH gave him a low blow, then he set him up for the pedigree, bBUT HE COULDN'T DO IT! Batista wouldn't go down, and he powered out of it, clotheslined the hell out of HHH, delivered the Batista Bomb AND WON THE TITLE! HHH was a bloody mess as he hobbled back to the dressing room with Flair, Batista celebrated in the ring as fireworks went off.

all in all i thought it was a great Wrestlemania, not a bad match on the card, and they all lived up to their hype. HHH is gonna be some mighty pissed off tomorrow night on raw haha!

Johnson dominates Sox in Bronx debut

NEW YORK (AP) - The tallest Yankee ever began the big task of putting the Boston Red Sox back in their place.

Randy Johnson shut down Boston in his New York debut, dominating his new team's old rival. He outpitched David Wells, got help from Hideki Matsui and a rejuvenated Jason Giambi and led the Yankees over the World Series champions 9-2 Sunday night in the major league opener.

Already, there were bad omens for the Red Sox: Matsui leaped in left to rob Kevin Millar of a two-run homer in the third, Giambi stretched to reel in two bad throws by shortstop Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez made a diving stop at third on Edgar Renteria, and Tino Martinez made a backhand dive at first to prevent an extra-base hit by Johnny Damon.

By the time Matsui hit a two-run homer off Matt Mantei for a 8-1 lead in the eighth, it was almost piling on.

With Boston taking the field as champions for the first time in 86 years, the Red Sox returned to the scene of their improbable triumph staring directly at the 6-foot-10 Big Unit, brought to the Bronx to help the Yankees win their first title since 2000.

Giambi, back at first base following injury, illness and a reported admission of steroid use, received a pair of standing ovations from the sellout crowd of 54,818 and went 1-for-2 with a single and two hit-by-pitches.

Gary Sheffield, back from offseason shoulder surgery, hit a go-ahead single in a three-run third inning against Wells, and Martinez received two huge ovations in his first game in pinstripes since 2001.

Since New York moved within three outs of sweeping the Red Sox in the AL championship series last October, the Red Sox had won eight straight, becoming the first major league team to overcome a 3-0 postseason deficit, then blowing out St. Louis in the World Series.

But following an offseason of joy in New England, the Red Sox started with a thud, pitching poorly, making a pair of errors and losing their fifth straight season opener. New York had 15 hits off Wells and six relievers.

The usual swells and celebrities were on hand to watch the Yankees extend their winning streak in home openers to eight. A sign in left field expressed the hope of New York fans - '1918-2004-2090' - referring to the years of Boston's last two Series titles and projected date of its next.

Johnson was a model of quiet focus hours before the game, putting on a black undershirt, then a gray sweat shirt before sitting in front of his new locker near manager Joe Torre's office and looking ahead, gathering his thoughts.

Hitting Johnson is, well, a tall order -- the New Yorker's playful front-page cartoon of him on the mound cut off at the neck.

He opened with a 93 mph pitch to Damon, and struck out Renteria and Manny Ramirez looking in the first, the latter on a smoking 97 mph heater. He got in trouble in the second, when Matsui grabbed Millar's fly ball and Jay Payton singled in the season's first run.

But Bernie Williams' sacrifice fly tied the score in the bottom half, and New York took a 4-1 lead in the third on Sheffield's double, Matsui's RBI single and a bases-loaded balk by Wells, who stepped back to start his windup and then stopped.

Rodriguez, vilified by Boston during the offseason and spring training, added a run-scoring single in the sixth off Blaine Neal and scored on Ruben Sierra's double.

Johnson allowed the one run and five hits in six innings and struck out six. Tanyon Sturtze and Tom Gordon finished with one-hit relief.

Wells, who pitched a perfect game for New York in 1998 and helped the Yankees win the World Series that year, was starting in place of Curt Schilling, his bloody sock in the Hall of Fame and the ankle it surrounded still recovering from surgery that followed the title.

Signed to fill the gap created by the departures of Pedro Martinez and Matt Clement, Wells made a shaky debut, allowing four runs and 10 hits in 4 1-3 innings.

It was a night of milestones - the first night opener at Yankee Stadium, the first time the Red Sox played as defending champions since 1919, when they opened with a 10-0 win over New York at the Polo Grounds behind a Babe Ruth home run.

Johnson made his 13th opening-day start, tying Roger Clemens for the lead among active pitchers.

New York, with the first $200 million payroll in baseball history, had a former All-Star in every spot in its starting lineup, the first time that happened in the major leagues since the Yankees did it on July, 24, 2003, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. In all, it added up to 53 All-Star appearances.

Notes: Flags were at half-staff and a moment of silence was observed one day after the death of Pope John Paul II, who celebrated mass at Yankee Stadium in 1979.

Hey i was just wondering if this is going to be put on the tracker or if i should tape the show

Hi, I was listening my college radio station the other day in NFLD, and they were playing a song with nothing but electric guitar and a singer, and I could have SWORE the singer was Gordon Downie. But I'd never heard the song before on a Hip album, or, as far as I know on a Gord solo album.
The lyrics started off "I cut my arms open, and it was all red and blue and gold like a chinese parade", and the chorus said something about "the sound of the guns like steel drums".
What was really distinct about the song was that the beginning and end of the song were spoken word as if it was a recorded message on someone's answering machine, and at the end of the song you could hear the beep of the message being erased.
Does anybody know what the heck I'm talking about? Because I didn't get the name of the song, and I'd really like to get a hold of it for a project that I'm working on. Maybe it wasn't Gord at all and I was hearing things. Thanks!

I hope you're all flooding <!-- e --><a href="mailto:entertain@ctv.ca">entertain@ctv.ca</a><!-- e --> with me to complain about the way Tanya Kim and Ben Mulroney are mis-handling the coverage tonight. Typical of these US-focused Hollywood sycophants.

In about thirty seconds, Kim managed to:
-make fun of Gordie's pronunciation of "Alexisonfire" and make the band, and everyone watching, totally uncomfortable
-ruin what started with "congratulations"
-demonstrate how terrible a broadcaster she is

This was just moments after Ben screwed up an interview with legend Jim Cuddy.

The Junos are a good effort - albeit flawed - to highlight Canadian talent and try to replicate some of the stuff we lose because we don't have a proper star system. With Kim and Mulroney, it seems that CTV is showing everyone that it couldn't care less about Canadian art.

does anyone have a good (lossless) copy of this song they could post on the tracker or here maybe, i remember a friend of mine playing this for me from a skating show they had recorded (they themselves were a figure skater and therefore quite enjoyed the competitions) and i really liked the song from what i could hear, the tape was in quite rough shape, it had been used many times for recording and always on 6hr mode so you can understand what the quality was like.

i don't know if it is alowed on the tracker or not since it is technically available for purchase on a figure skating video

anyway if you can help that would be great

Is anyone going to see this, It's on Thursday April 14, at Fiddlers Green in Cambridge. tickets are $20 at the door and $18 in advance, I think I'll probably go and check this out, it should be a great show.
