I recommend you run to your nearest record store and buy it right now. Don't think about it. Just go. Trust me. There is some great rock n' roll coming out of this country right now, and Matt Mays and his magnificent band, El Torpedo, are doing their part to help lead the charge. This album is so damn good it's already slid into the #2 slot on my "best of 2005 so far" list. There's a good possibility that Springsteen could knock Matt down to #3 when he releases his new album "Devils and Dust" at the end of April, but for now Matt and the boys are sittin' pretty, right behind Kathleen Edwards.

It's a damn shame that a band as great as these guys are continue to operate below the mainstream radar, while soulless watered down pre-packaged crap like Theory of a Nickelcreed get all the f**king radio play and label support. It's disgusting.

Neil Young is recovering from surgery on Tuesday to address a brain aneurysm. After performing with the Pretenders on March 14 at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in New York, the artist experienced what his publicist describes as "visual field disturbances," and an MRI scan revealed the source of the problem.

Rather than have surgery immediately, Young spent the next week in Nashville recording for an as-yet-unrevealed project. Tuesday's procedure has been called "a complete success," and Young is expected to make a full recovery. However, the artist has been forced to cancel his planned Sunday (April 3) appearance at Canada's Juno Awards

Wolf Blitzer: So now, at this hour, what we can tell you is the pope is gravely ill and is expected to die soon. His condition has been worsening and it is still, as far as we know, very grave. And as this pope lies in his papal apartment in what we only know is a very grave condition, many people are wondering just how grave that is. And at this hour we can only tell you, the pope is gravely ill. I'm going to go to our chief medical correspondent, Doctor Sanjay Gupta, for a medical perspective. Sanjay?

Sanjay Gupta: Well, medically speaking, Wolf, his condition is very grave. Very grave indeed. We know that his blood pressure has dropped and that his breathing is laboured. And he is said to be in septic shock. So medically speaking, his condition is very grave, and he will probably die soon.

WB: Thank you, Sanjay. So there you have it: the pope's condition is now very grave. And he may die soon. Joining us now from Rome is Christiane Amanpour with an update. Christiane?

Christiane Amanpour: At this time, we know, as all the faithful gathered here in Rome know, that the pope's condition is very grave. And we all know, or suspect, that he may die soon. His condition has been worsening, the Vatican has said his blood pressure is dropping and his breathing is laboured. And so the pope's condition is very grave.

WB: Thank you, Christiane. So again, we know that the pope's condition is very grave, and we can't really tell you anything beyond that.

CA: Yes, Wolf, what we can tell you now is that the Vatican has announced that the pope is having difficulty breathing. And this can only mean what we have feared: his condition is very grave, very grave indeed.

WB: So now we know that the pope's condition is very grave. Sanjay, can you give us a medical perspective on that report?

SG: Yes, Wolf. We know that medically speaking, when you are having trouble breathing, it is often difficult to breathe. And this is a very grave problem. So we can say that the pope's condition is very grave.

WB: Thank you, Sanjay. So in medical terms, the pope's condition is very grave, and we still can't tell you anything beyond that. But we will continue to tell you nothing until something happens.

Yes, I know, there was a thread a while back talking about Stephen Dame's letter in the globe and mail about the Pope when he was sick a while back. We argued about retiring popes.

Now that the Pope is in his last hours I felt it was necessary to start a new thread.

As I said in Stephen's thread, I saw the Pope in Montreal in the early 80's and I was truly honored and it still is one of my most cherish memories.

Even though I am a recovering catholic, because like an Alcoholic, you never really recover, I still have an immense love and respect for the Pope.

I am very sad that he is dying, but I do believe it is his time and I have so much respect for how he is handling it.

Am I the only one today that saw Lances April Fools joke?

Are anybody fans of his? I got to see him on wednesday and the show was awesome. He played for about 2 hrs of the country stuff, then took a ten minute break and then came on playing bass for his punk band AssJack. If you get a chance to see him, I would reccomend it because this show is in my top 5.
