Takes about 2 hours to download a 5 minute video. Is it the site or is there something wrong with my computer?

Ok, I'll admit it, although I do enjoy it, I find it highly annoying. Specially since I am on dial up and sometimes I'll type in the URL and go do something else and forget about it and then hear music from nowhere LOL

I'd love you know what you all think. So vote away folks!

Those of you familiar with iTunes might know that they have a feature where "celebrities" put up their playlists - tracks they love and/or are listening to right now. The Barenaked Ladies put their list up today - 118 friggin songs and not one Hip song. Not one. For guys that appeared in the Juno tribute claiming to love the Hip you'd think that they'd have at least ONE Hip song among the 118.

I drove by this yesterday about an hour after it happened. They were unloading the trailer. The smell of death..er..beer filled the air. A tear came to my eye... Truly a shame.

So.... I have some home movies I own on a DVD and I'm trying to get them into an editable format on my computer (read: avi, mpg, etc.) so I can make chapters, menus, etc. But, I'm quite new to this... can anyone point me in the direction of some free software that would enable me to take these DVD vob files, or whatever they are and make them into anything else that I can edit?

Plus, are there any good software choices for making kick-ass menus?

Rock icons the Tragically Hip, known for their songs about hockey and Canadian history, were inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, with a taped tribute from fans, bands, and Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin.

"You think of the names Neil Young, Rush and the Guess Who: it feels really great to be part of that fraternity," Hip drummer Johnny Faythe told Reuters.
