Tough Game - The Refs SUCK - but they won! Good Job!!

...BUT I gotta say, this is one of the worst band names! Blech. But I'm sure the tunes will be great. :thumb:

There are lots of ways to express what's truly in your heart.

When I am with the Tragically Hip, I experience more than your basic rock show. I experience a formless presence that is intimate and electric. Like the Hip and I merge into One just for those few hours. Beyond the worlds that exists outside that theater. This, I feel, is a true talent. To conjure up (allow) the unknown, like magicians. To bring forth a presence so big, so awe-inspiring that my mind cannot grasp it's formlessness. This expansion of my consciousness rubberbands my nervous system, streches it out beyond anything it has yet known. In this place we are all equal. We have no identities. We have no titles or really, any beliefs at all. We just ARE. There is joy in every moment.

Good for you, Tragically Hip. You love what you do and it shines
for us all.

A lighthouse doesn't convince boats to seek its harbor. Rather, it just shines and allows its light to fall on the shadows where it may. If your light that simply shines attracts a bug or moth only, then so be it. If it resonates with the bows of a hundred ships, then so be that also, without holding any grievance in mind for harboring either moth or ship.

all amazing songs. I think out of all the Hip albums this one captures it's mood the best. The album cover, the album title, the lyrics, the guitar sounds.

do these guys ever kick ass! not that I'd expect anything short of killer from Mr. Johnson (ps: what's up with him changing his name from Gordie to "Grady"?) and crew...

if you haven't heard them yet, go to shadygrady.net or .com (i think it's .net) and check out the badass version of Hammer In MY Hand, and Woman Got MY Devil. I can't wait to see these guys rock 100 Georges later this month, and i suggest that everyone/anyone check them out if they're in your area.

The Tragically Hip's Rob Baker and Craig Northey from the Odds team in Stripper's Union Local 518.

Their soon to be released self-titled album was recorded in Bath, Ontario and began as Baker's solo project. Northey began collaborating with Baker in 2004 and they soon found that they could indeed write good songs together. Stripper's Union was born and along the way they scooped up more musical talent: Pat Steward (Odds, Matt Good), Doug Elliott (Odds, Colin James), and Simon Kendall (Doug and the Slugs, Colin James).

The name was spawned from Northey's idea of rockers having a great deal in common with urban folk dancers. "Both make their livings in seedy clubs, under the microscope of critical eyes seeking flaws, far from home and loved ones, laying themselves bare night after night"

The single - "Give Up and Go Away" - went to radio Wednesday (June 7) and we could use some phone action from the fans and the curious...the record will be released on June 14.

The band is: Rob Baker (The Hip) - guitar and vocals, Craig Northey (Odds, Sharkskin)-vocals and guitar, Pat Steward (Bryan Adams, Odds, Sharkskin, Matt Good, Wil)- drums, Doug Elliot (Odds, Sharkskin) - bass, Simon Kendall (Doug & The Slugs, Sharkskin) - Hammond B3.

In addition Gord Sinclair, Johnny Fay and Paul Langlois are on 3 or 4 songs plus there is a killer horn section on 3 tracks.We are very excited about the record but need help getting the word out.

I love this guy. For those who don't know, Pat played drums on Brian Adams early material (Summer of '69, et al). The man is one of the most punishingly good drummers I have ever met. You should also check out some of his work with Blair Packham and Sharkskin. He's a song sensible drummer, with a powerhouse stroke like no other.

I just can't say enough good things about the guy. He's my favorite Canadian drummer these days. Great to see he's playing with Rob.
