I've got a fan, two fans actually, doing jack-all in my 900 degree apartment right now. Anybody else feel my pain?

The Wallflowers were the first band I ever really attached myself to, in terms of fandom (I was in 6th grade, and couldn't stand a chance against Jakob Dylan's eyes). I'm going to see them in concert on Sunday, and in preparation I picked up their latest effort, entitled Rebel, Sweetheart. I would have to say it's their best since Bringing Down the Horse; stylish and catchy and very well done. If you're at all a fan, I suggest picking it up. [/end shameless plug] :thumb:

It's the adlib that might as well be in the lyirc booklet. You could bet some newbie that Gord will say "bring out yer dead" at the end of the first verse of 'Poets' and walk away a very rich man or woman or gibby.

But where does it come from? And who really gives a shit? Good questions. The answer to the first one is kinda cool since it ties into two Hip songs.

In 1832, cholera swept through Upper and Lower Canada like an STD (whoops, they're called STI's now) through the cast and crew of 'The Simple Life.'

The papers took to calling the boats full of infected immigrants "Fever Ships" and when it became clear that cholera was spreading through the water and irrigation systems (i.e. the lakes and rivers) the epidemic became known as the "Lake Fever."

Anyway, as the death toll mounted, the hospitals in Montreal, York (Toronto) and a little sea-side village called Kingston, sent around body snatchers with carts. They'd cruise the streets, in the days before megaphones or scheduled garbage days, and yell: "Bring Out Your Dead!" This catch phrase was already chic in Europe, where plagues and beaver-skin hats were all the rage, but it made it's Canadian debut thanks to the lake fever.

I am headed up to Ottawa to go White Water Rafting. The resort is Wilderness Tours. Just wondering if anyone had done it. Any tips for things to do at the resort, what to bring, etc.

It's University weekend so it should be insane!

Can someone put the CFNY Xmas Party "So Hip It Hurts" Boot up on the tracker? I've had this boot in my collection for a long time and it seems to have bit the dust. I keep getting real bad skips and its one of my favorites, so if someone can put it up for me that would be great. I would get it from the .FTP site but its gonna be down for a while.

I am putting together a CD for a giveaway at my sons b-day party for the Adults... and looking for suggestions on easy listening material... more recent than not but I'll take some older stuff too.

The idea is just to have some cool summer tunes and possibly introduce people to some new music...

Wow, just arrived in my mail this morning, and I think its fantastic! Its not a big departure for them, but the formula that made them succesful is there in abundance and it works really well, but I dont think its a bad thing, if it aint broke dont fix it? Coldplay is like a good thing that keeps getting better over time, like a fine wine. Im sure some of you will disagree of course. Nonetheless I think its their best effort yet, I love it!! :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: 1/2 !!!

My one and only gripe about this album is that its got that "Copy Control Technology" and I assume its an EMI thing and not a Coldplay thing, or do the bands have a choice in it? Because the only 2 Cd's I have right now with that "CCT" is the new Tea Party and Velvet Revolver and they are both EMI records. This totally pisses me off, Im listening to it in my PC right now and it barely plays, and I wanted to put the new songs into my iPod and I cant even burn them. I think this is total bullshit, I paid for the CD I should be able to burn it onto my PC if I want to. :x Does anyone know if there is a way around it, because Id rather not download them from the net, I had a corrupt file screw up my iPod cause of that.
