The thread on Monty Pyton sparked a memory of a friends year book quote and I thought it would make a good thread, so here goes. List yours and see if anyone can say where it's from. Mine is pretty easy...class of '90..woot!

Standing on a hill of my mountain of dreams,
telling myself it's not as hard as it seems.

From Letterman last night. Funny stuff. I think #7 is my favorite:

10. Dip into social security fund to give every American free HBO

9. Use diplomacy to bring peace to Brad, Jen and Angelina

8. Try fixing Iraq, creating some jobs, reducing the deficit and maybe capturing Osama

7. Figure out a way for the Yankees to win a game

6. Replace his "country simpleton" persona with more lovable "hillbilly idiot" image

5. Use weekly radio address to give Americans a Van Halen twofer

4. Get Saddam to switch to boxers

3. Ditch the librarian and make Eva Longoria First Lady

2. Resign

1. Jump on Oprah's couch while professing his love for Katie Holmes

I got an e-mail from somebody who skipped and failed an exam in order to see a Hip show (however... it was the Montreal '00 gig, so well worth it) and I know I'm not the only one with a few stories about crazy things done for or because of the Hip.

I've posted about it before, but I went to the top of Rattlesnake Point with the little woman for the Millenium New Years, watched the fireworks from all over the GTA, and played "Ahead By A Century" as the century's (yeah, I know... no year zero) changed over.

Even if they're not painfully cheesy like that one, let's hear 'em. Anybody fake an illness, ditch a wedding, or just do something cool or unique on behalf of the boys? Ever met the boys? Ever wrestled the boys? All stories welcome.

P.S. I'd like to start a Hipstories section of the site, "Hip fans tell their tales" sorta thing, so if you don't want it posted there, please lemme know.

Goodenow's famous last words.

Can't wait to see how he spins this. If the numbers are right, by refusing to accept the owners' offer of a $42.5 million cap in February, Goodenow has pissed away a potential of $1.3 billion in salaries over the life of the deal. Nice work Bob! Way to earn that $3 million annual salary.

Really nifty site. You can look up Hip addreses, like King and Princess St. in Kingston or Millhaven Pen, or Lombard Street in San Fran, or just zoom in on your house.

Be careful if you look up Wall Street though, mapquest.com stock is falling all over the place

What are the chances of the Hip signing up for this show? (if it comes to be)

I think they are guaranteed to be there given the cause and how they feel about humanitarian efforts.

My earliest Hip memory was when I won a free promotional CD at a swim meet that had the LBU version of "Springtime" on it. I remember not being able to figure out the lyrics, but listening to that one track for a whole summer. I also distinctly remember my mother commenting on GD's signing in a negative manner, to which I retorted something similarly disparaging about her vocals.

So the Yankees are 1-9 in their last 10 games. This includes two losses by The Messiah Randy Johnson (salary: $15.4 million). This includes getting their asses kicked two straight (in New York no less) by the hated Sox, by a combined margin of 24-3. Then they got swept by arguably the worst team in baseball with the lowest payroll (KC). Then they lost two of three to the Twins (who are 20th in payroll). Now they've lost two straight to Milwaukee (27th in payroll). So when do the Yankees start dominating exactly?

Ahhhhhhhh, it's a good time to be a Yankee hater. A good time indeed.
