Letterman has mentioned a few times on the show that the Foos are his favorite band, so this should be good. They played a kick ass performance of "Best of You" on the MTV movie awards the other night. What a great song! Can't wait to pick up the new album on Tuesday.

Hey, I was just wondering if anyone else out there has seen any of the three Peter Gabriel DVD's. Just thought it'd be cool to talk to some other ppl about em haha. :lol:

got to meet his aunt and a few of his cousins..very nice people..his aunt was a sweet older lady from england, and she's so proud of Paul, and they were all thankful for me playing the hip so much at the radio station..they've all heard of hipbase as well as i of course mentioned us...needless to say a few hip tunes were brought out last night (they would have anyways) but it was cool to see his family groovin to little bones...

As posted in an earlier thread, Gord Downie showed up at the Daniel Lanois show Saturday night, and sang backup on the 3rd song of the show (don't know the title). After the song, he walked right by me up the side aisle of the theatre. I jumped out of my seat, and caught up with him. Shaking his hand, I told him it was a pleasure to meet him. He asked me what my name is, I told him "Scott". He said "thank-you Scott". I said enjoy the rest of the show, and great job on the song.

I didn't want to take up his time, as he was there to enjoy the show, and what a show it was!

I was going to try to get an autograph at the end of Lanois' performance, but Gord went backstage during the last song, before the encores and I didn't get the opportunity. Either way, it was a great pleasure to shake hands with him again, and a fun night out on the town.

I've kinda put some thought to this and think that the reason the Hip are so popular is because of Gord. Not his persona, but his general lyrical ability. The band writes some pretty great musical hooks, but I truly think that what sets the Hip apart from the rest of the music out there is Gordie's distinct voice and lyrics.

Despite said musical hooks, the band still uses the two guitar, bass, drums and singer format, which I find is getting pretty tired (the format not the hip's style). I believe few bands can still pull this format off today and keep their music relevant and interesting. The Hip do it, and the reason is because the lyrics don't allow the music to just blend in with all the other crap that is out there today.

If you could pick one (or a few) unreleased songs for the boys to update and re-record which would it be?

I'm not talking about the "bonus tracks" (Ultra Mundane, Problem Bears, Forest Edge, Night is for gettin'), I'm talking about the grainy old recordings we've got of Radio Show, Blonde Solid, Anchor on a Thread, You See the Details, etc.

Oh - and don't say you want all of them (we all do) - try to limit yourself to 3.

they will be in town on monday doing an exclusive show for about 50 bear listeners at the molson house. i didnt win tix did anyone here???

Just got plates for my 72 chevy 1/2 ton. They cost $192 for 12 months. That is almost what I pay for 2 months on my Ninja street bike.
