Is it just me, or is the link to the new Hip Club gone from thehip.com??? Think it means anything??? Perhaps a change of plans...or maybe there just wasn't room for it/no need for it.....MAv??? Just some food for thought....

Well, although February seemed to fly by like a torrenting whirlwind for me, it seems as if March will go down as a bit of a personal disappointment. It seems that I've got a meager 2 shows to share in the upcoming month:

03/03/88 - Call The Office - London, ON
03/11/99 - General Motors Place - Vancouver, BC

I own the following shows as well, but they've already been torrented, so I won't be touching them unless some new leachers have trouble finding a seeder:

03/06/91 - Little Mountain Sound - Command Performance - Vancouver, BC
03/08/91 Coyotes - Tucson, AZ
03/28/95 The Ranch Bowl - Omaha, NE

Finally, for those of you who've been following my heartbreaking saga, I'm supposed to, according to my list, own the following shows, only to have found that for the second month in a row I'm two shows short:

03/09/99 - Riverside Coliseum - Kamloops, BC
03/30/99 - Paramount Theatre - Seattle, WA

Sorry, I guess March is going to be a little more lamb than lion, at least from my end, but with any luck some other kind individuals will help spread the gospel. Post your intentions here folks!

  Old school trading - anyone?

Hi,

I was just wondering how many people still engage in 'sold school trading' whereby discs are sent in trade for other discs or B&P.

I am not able to get bittorrent shows - but can ftp - and am wanting to get into MP3/compressed downloads.

I do not have many Hip shows, but if anyone would like to engage in some disc ripping/burning/posting then please let me know.

I just did a post in the Hip-centric thread, and then I thought I'd do a search to see if anyone had ever posted about "This Hour Has 22 Minutes". I went to the search area and typed in "22 minutes". Low and behold, I got 12 pages of responses just in the Tragically Hip Discussion. Come on now, that's just plain silly. I tried a search with quotes around it...same thing.

So what's the deal here?

My girlfriend just bought the Curious George soundtrack and I gotta say that getting Jack Johnson to do the whole CD ( with guests like G-love,Ben Harper,Matt Costa etc.) is pretty cool. I really like the fact that he turned children songs and lullaby's into some real cool grooves. The only exception to this CD is the remake of Ben Harpers -With my own 2 hands. I thought it had a real watered down sound. But I guess it carries a pretty good message as a kiddy tune. All in all a real good cd for Jack Johnson fans.

Since the release of Hipeponymous I have often found myself incorrectly assuming that music I hear/videos I see are The Hip. Example: The opening lyrics to Weezer's "Perfect Situation" are "What's the deal with my brain?" I, in my own sad, little brain complete the lyrics as such, "What's the deal with your dad?". Also...the video for KT Tunstall's "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree" (great song, by the way) has starry lights were are reminiscent of the live performance of "Bobcaygeon". Does this happen to anyone else??

Anyone checking out the festival this weekend? Seems to be some cool shows going on. If you want a hidden gem, go to Free Times on Friday for 10pm. Lindi Ortega is playing....she will blow you away...really incredible. She just opened for Danny Michel at the Rivoli and was spellbinding. She did a cover of Hallelujah and slayed it...Danny jumped onstage impromptu halfway through the song...was quite something!
