I don't have the same zest for the games as I did as a young'un, but there's already been one event that got me fired up: last night's Men's 400m relay (swimming).

The French were favored, and anchor Alain Bernard, who declared that his French team would "smash" the Americans prior to the event, had a body-length lead going into the final leg. But American anchor Jason Lezak chased him down to give the US the gold and a new world record.

Hey all. I heard over the weekend on 97.7 in St.Catharines that there should be a new Hip single available to listeners by the end of August/early September. I'm not sure how reliable this is. They also mentioned, what we already know, that the band is in Hawaii with Bob Rock working on the new stuff. The cd should be out by fall/early winter. Perhaps a song to rock out to for Labour Day???
I'm only passing on the info I heard, so I don't know their sources. Perhaps MAv can shed some insight to that rumour?

Actor/comedian Bernie Mac passed away this morning from complications due to pneumonia in a Chicago area hospital

So the Olympics are underway...anybody watching? I caught some highlights of the opening ceremonies this morning, looked like it was pretty well done (considering what they spent to stage it it damn well better have been), but personally I don't have the attention span to watch that stuff for 4 hours. Once the actual events get going I'll probably take more of an interest, although I must admit I don't enjoy the summer games nearly as much as the winter ones.

A few years ago on the Hip site, there was a video of Gord doing SIV acoustically in what appears to be a hotel room, does anyone have ANY idea where I can find that?

I recently picked up a used CD called "rhymes without reason" by a Brantford band called Wisconsin. It is a catchy record so I Googled ‘em to see what else they might have done but outside of the fact that they were voted 'best unsigned' act in Canada in 2001, nothing is coming up. Has anyone heard of this band and/or know of their musical fate?

Just hearing this song now for the first time on mainstream radio !
