Picked it up last night and I'm really enjoying it. It's less political and more personal. Less rock and more pop. It's the sound of Bruce and the band just rippin' it up in the studio and having a good time. The only real dud on the album is "Surprise Surprise", which is easily the worst song Springsteen has written in ages. It's cringe-inducingly bad. And parts of "Outlaw Pete" sound a little too much like "I Was Made for Loving You" by Kiss for my liking. But those are my only complaints. The rest of the album is excellent.

I've been messing around with api's and xml feeds and I am now about to start work on what I think is going to be a kick ass set of features, and that is to start bringing more related data into our content. I started with the Hip Flcikr photos sets, and I am going to build upon this so that people can add their Flickr photo sets to a concert date within the site.

That's cool and all, but then I started thinking about all the videos that you guys make, so I started thinking about that and looking into.

So, good news, is that I figured that out, more or less, so that I can bring Youtube videos in. But that's a lot of work for everybody involved - fan - to associate an individual video with an individual song each time, so, then I thought about it and came up with, well, this is the idea at lest, our own set of Meta Data to describe our information.

The reason I am am bringing this up, is that if we can agree on at lest a basic information set, before the tour starts, then we can start applying it collectively to the new batch of media that will be created.

For me, specifically, this means that I could do a specific seach in youtube, for example, with a specific data set, and pull up all the videos of a song, or a venue, or a show and have them associated with something like a setlist, or individual songs from a show.

To the fan, they would get the following experience:
go to the site, check a setlist, and see what videos have been posted, for what songs, and see what photos people had posted. All based around the show, venue, setlist, and individual song.

Obviously this isn't for everyone, and it's a little technical, but does anybody see a value in this?
It could be as simple as a naming convention and specific keywords and move out from there.

Anyway, I am throwig that out there . . .

I have reason to believe that the Hip MAY be playing the hawk rocks the park in London this year, though, it has not been announced yet. I found this out today from a reliable friend who knows a person involved in putting this together. I do not know how reliable my friends source is but I decided to post here and see if anyone else can add some input to this rumour... (cough) Mav (cough)

I know many will probably disagree, but I think this firing was not called for. All they were doing was playing the game. If the other team is not competitive enough (they haven't won in 4 years), then maybe they shouldn't be in this league. Sure, maybe the fans shouldn't have been cheering when they were getting close to the 100 mark, but firing the coach....kinda stupid. Any thoughts?
