Here's a game for those who are bored and in need of a Hip Fix.

The first section of the game deals with anagrams.

An anagram is a type of word play, the result of rearranging the letters of a word or phrase to produce a new word or phrase, using all the original letters exactly once; e.g., orchestra = carthorse, A decimal point = I'm a dot in place.

Section A: Rearrange the letters in the anagram to produce a Tragically Hip song. ( 2pt for each correct Hip song revealed. )
eg. LEAD DOOR = ELDORADO

The second section of the game (Section B) involves unscrambling 3 words and guessing the Hip song associated with the words. (1 pt for each word you unscramble, 2 pts for each Hip song revealed.)

eg.
RMADE = DREAM
KOMES = SMOKE
NHOTER = HORNET

SONG = AHEAD BY A CENTURY

Have fun! (hint: Only one song from each album is represented in each section.)

could there be a campaign to make the hip-loving public, for instance the 175,000 on facebook, more aware of the trading and sharing possibilities via this website? I'm consistently amazed by the number of people unaware of the great music available here! (then again, many hip fans are overthehill in regards to technology like utorrent, but a little education can go a loooong way!)

Amazing show last night! Joe is an acclaimed songwriter, painter and poet who uses stage performances to deliver his full spectrum of skills. We've seen him many times but never in such an intimate setting like the Dakota. The show begins with a 6x4 foot blank canvas which he paints on throughout the performance while his layered guitar samples are playing in the background. I've seen several artists use this technique (layered loops, delays and samples) but Joe takes it to a different level. It’s difficult to describe what transpires during his shows as it’s a mix of music, spoken word and a somewhat bizarre style of Picasso-esque inspired artistry, but by the time he's done one feels truly privileged for having experienced such a spectacle.

This will give you a taste for his music and art ...

This is the painting he did last night...

He plays at the same venue again tonight.
