Wouldn't it be great if they did planetarium laser light shows like this for the hip?

If you have a chance to catch this movie tonight on CBC (8 pm EDT) do so. In case you haven't seen it before it is an excellent piece of Canadiana which chronicles a motorcycle trip from Toronto to Tofino BC. The story and soundtrack are first class and even features a very cool albeit quick appearance by Gord Downie.

Early night tonight.

This may rank up there as my favourite GD & TCOM show. And it may very well be because of Johnny Fay on drums. What a unique difference! Dave Clark makes it a little more mellow, but Johnny makes it rock! And I can't say I ever hear his drums as much during Hip shows as I did tonight. Holy kick drum.

Saw a bit of The Reason (I liked what I heard, so I will have to check them out). Daniel Lanois played guitar solos in the sound tent in between The Reason and Sarah Harmer, and then between Sarah and GD. That was really cool.

Looks like this will probably turn out to be an annual thing, which is cool. Pictures and video later.

Forgot to add that CBC Radio was taping the entire day, and they expect it to air sometime in October.

With all the album tours that are going on these days, I think it would be awesome if the Hip decided to pick a couple of albums and play the whole thing. They could do what OLP did and play and album, take a break then play another 12 songs or so. I would love to hear every song off Fully, Phantom, Road Apples, Up to Here. It would satisfy all the hard core fans for sure! Just sayin'!

I was just thinking recently about this mp3 I had years ago of a live version of Lake Fever played at some show (presumably on the Music @ Work tour). Gord introduced it by saying: "Here's a song about an exchange between two people. It's called 'Lake Fever', and I think we've all got it, and It's just very pleasing and comforting to know that in the affairs of the heart we're all fifteen forever".

That quote has stuck with me as being awesome ever since, but somewhere along the road I lost track of that mp3. Does anyone know which show I'm talking about and possibly even have that particular live recording of Lake Fever?

(Note: I don't know if Gord introduced Lake Fever in those words on many of the shows on that tour or just this one particular show - really I'd be interested to find any recording with that introduction...)

An article released Winnipeg Jets' goaltender, Chris Mason's new goalie mask for this year. The article has no relevance towards the Hip and has more to do with Iron Maiden, however, the front image with the Jet and the #50 in it, I will be reminded of 50 Mission Cap everytime I see him play...very cool mask! :thumb:

The Hip have been mentioned and have obviously been linked to HNIC in the past, as well as playing "The Forks" venue for the War Child concert a decade ago...

NHL season debut to launch in 'Peg: sources

Winnipeg will be front and centre when the National Hockey League raises the curtain on the 2011-12 regular season.
Sources have told the Free Press the season's Oct. 6 debut -- dubbed NHL Face-Off -- will include a live network broadcast launch from The Forks on opening night.
The campaign begins with the Montreal Canadiens in Toronto facing the Maple Leafs at 6 p.m. and the Pittsburgh Penguins in Vancouver meeting the Canucks at 9 p.m.
Both of those games are on CBC with one other game, featuring the Philadelphia Flyers travelling to Boston to face the Stanley-Cup champion Bruins, to be televised on Versus.
The festivities will all be part of a four-day build-up to the Jets' first contest at the MTS Centre against the Canadiens on Sunday, Oct. 9. The game will be televised nationally on CBC, and the puck drops at 4 p.m.
Word is the party in Winnipeg will include a "major Canadian concert act," with one of the bands rumoured to be Nickelback.
The NHL ran a similar campaign in past seasons with last year's NHL Face-Off including an entertainment festival in Toronto that featured live musical performances, interactive hockey-skills games, giveaways, appearances by former NHL players, merchandise tents and live game broadcasts on giant video screens.
As well, the season opens with four NHL teams -- the Anaheim Ducks, Buffalo Sabres, Los Angeles Kings and New York Rangers ---- making their 2011-12 debuts in Europe.
On Oct. 7 the Kings and Rangers meet in Stockholm with the Sabres and Ducks in Helsinki. On Saturday, the Ducks face the Rangers in Berlin, marking the first NHL game ever in Germany.

Hi friends,

I thought that I would plumb your knowledge concerning the newest/oldest guitar in our house. Just inherited a late 70s early 80s era les paul copy hondo ii from a family member (yes, way too many adjectives in that sentence). He doesn't remember what year he purchased it. Basically, we're trying to figure out if it is worth fixing up and putting some time into, or if it should just be kept as a nostalgia piece. Here are some photos:
