  Interesting Book on U2

If anyone is a fan of U2, you might be interest to read Lola Cashman's "Inside the Zoo with U2." (Cashman was U2's top fashion consultant during their Joshua Tree tour). It came out late last year and U2 apparently tried to keep it off the shelf. After reading most of it I see why. She makes it sound like Bono had a alot of personal problems ie, his apperance, weight, wanting cosmetic surgery etc. She talks about Clayton doing coke and so on.

As a U2 fan I find it an interesting read. Other fans might as well. Its the first book I have read about the band that really shows I guess what you could call their unknown private life. Then again, she might be just doing all this for cash.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned these explosions yet. What a tragedy and now it seems as though the Al Qaida network is responsible... this world is becoming scarier by the second.. :roll:

Here's a thought for all of ya...

When/where/how did you discover The Hip?

I remember being about 8 or 9 and hearing Courage on the radio. I was living in Newfoundland at the time, so my exposure to music was pretty limited. I just couldn't get enough of that song, and I still can't! It's all about the rock of The Rock, OZ-FM.

The rest, as they say, is history.

When I introduced myself in the FAQs, I mentioned I was totally infatuated with Gord Downie. That's kinda inspired me to start a thread about Gord Downie lust.

However, there are four other guys in the group so I thought I'd be fair and make this thread to include the entire band.

Gord D...*drool* . He's only one of two celebrities I have have ever had fantasies about. I just love, the intelligence, the writing, the personality, the humor, the voice, those BLUE EYES, that smile...oh my....the fact he's a musician doesn't hurt either. I've always been a sucker for a musician.

Anyway, I sound like a teenager, not that that is a bad thing, but I'm 30 years old! LOL!

BTW, I also think that Johnny Faye is a doll but I LUST after Gord Downie.

Funny thing is, I realized just the other day, Gord kinda looks like an old boyfriend of mine, except for eye color and hair color and the ex-boyfriend wore glasses, but they have the same face, same kind of skin, nasal voices, and the same body even! The ex is just a bit shorter though, by at least 6 inches. There's a b&w promo pic of the band where Gord looks EXACTLY like my ex-bf, minus the glasses. Saddest part, when I dated this guy, I had no idea who Gord Downie was, however, I had heard of The Hip!

So ladies, or guys if you swing that way, let's hear it.

I was talking to a guy who works with an equipment company tonight. He has had several phone conversations with rob baker over the past couple of weeks, while trying to set up an equipment contract for the next tour................


..............according to Rob Baker the new album is THE BEST HIP ALBUM EVER!!!!

i couldnt even believe my ears!

I'm sure those of us in Canada and the northern US have been to a few of the places mentioned in thier songs. Which places have you been?

I've been to:
Lake Memphremagog
Montreal
Toronto
New York City
Niagra Falls
New Orleans
Buffalo
the 401
Mississippi River
Minnesota

I plan on going to Bobcaygeon, hopefully in the next year. Although it's not mentioned in any song I've heard yet, I also plan a trip back to Kingston. The last time I went through there, The Hip were just forming Tongue

I always thought it would be interesting if you could figure out how far you would travel and how much it would cost to go to every location Gord's lyrics mention. Anyone have a lot of time on thier hands? lol
