  DVD's of Upcoming Tour

Well folks, with a tour looming in the not so distant future, I think we should get a plan in place to make sure that as many people get to share in the shows as possible.

I will be taping, and making DVD's of as many shows as I can.

I don't think that I can take on what Peter did last year, but I'm willing to try.

Who else will be taping? What equipment will you be using?

I have a Panasonic MiniDV camera, and will probably use iMovie/iDVD/iTunes on my PowerMac to edit/convert/burn the shows I tape.

Bertuzzi is gone for the year, regular season and playoffs. The canucks was also fined $ 250 000. Bertuzzi's "eligibility" for the 2004-05 NHL season will be determined by commissioner Gary Bettman at the start of training camp, the league said

Alright, I know all of you have heard the various versions of Joesephine and Ballroom. BUt I need to tell you all how great these songs are! These are completely unpolished songs that Gord and the boys were just trying out. I cannot wait to see or how these evolved in the studio. And to hear these tunes sans-distortion will be even more amazing. April is too far away.

As heard on 96.9 Jack FM this morning:

Gord Downie was in town last Friday night to attend the exclusive lukemia benefit put on by Elton John, Elvis Costello, & Diana Krall. Gord did not sing or participate, he just attended to support the cause.

I heard someone paid $4500 US on Ebay for a ticket to this fundraiser. Ouch!

Just curious if Gord's solo material allowed him to get a lot of what he wanted to say out there, but was confined by the hip.

Maybe doing so allowed him and the band to get back to the fast rock sound that's rumored for this upcoming CD.

Whether it's slow or fast, bring it on. Can't wait. :thumb:

Lately you could call him Robin Hood, helping out the poor old Canadian teams:

You could even count Barnaby to the Avalanche, who are the former Nordiques.

hi folks. i thought i'd show you the way i strum through this tune on my acoustic, solo. the only tab i've seen doesn't seem to have the bass riff right, but i could be wrong. discuss amongst yourselves...

the luxury

first the basic bass line, then some suggestions on how to work
in the Em chord. d=downstroke, u=up

the d-string bit has to roll, so i hammer on the first couple notes.
i'm a fingerpicker, so i hit the E bass with by thumb now and
then. as long as you keep the a string fretted 2nd fret, you
can "accidentally" hit the open strings while you're strumming.
during the verses, i'm not usually coordinated enough to play
the above and sing at the same time, so i simplify by just
playing the Em and Em7 chords. a similar Am to Am7 progression
accompanies the line "melancholy wine-soaked tenderness" and
of course the counterparts to that line in the rest of the verses.

* it sounds good to go from the lush, 6-string version
to just the spare, stripped-down bass for dramatic effect
right before the third verse. the hip love to "clear the air"
to add tension.

chorus: hit just the bass note first before strumming the rest
of the Em and A chords. you'll hear the timing hopefully off
the record.
