Just going through the Edmonton Journal today and stumbled on this article:

"EDMONTON - Fans of the Tragically Hip might not have to wait until a reported fall arena tour to see their favourite Canadian band. Industry sources say the Kingston rockers are planning to play a series of intimate gigs at New City, a downtown club, in July...

...The shows -- as many as five, sources say -- will come after The Hip's latest album, In Between Evolution, drops June 29. It's the group's 11th album and first with producer Adam Kasper, who has worked with such U.S. powerhouses as Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age and Pearl Jam..."

Okay, whoever comes closest or right-on wins my forever lasting respect and admiration. Plus, a cash prize to the winner: Gibby's in charge of that though, so I'll post his phone number and address after the game so the winner can go to North Tonolondo and collect.

Post your scores. Tie-break's to be decided by some type of fisticuffs.

Alright, here's my pick

Calgary: 2
Tampa: 1

Cherry's suit: Ugly

Ditka: 456

hey guys,

This is sorta a 3rd single that you can get before the Album comes out June 29th. In Ontario (at least) in 28's of Labatt Blue starting in June there will be a free CD. 4 different CD's to collect (OLP, Jet, Sum 41 and TTH). The TTH CD has 'Heaven is a Better Place Today" as the lead track. The other 2 songs are live tracks (Bobcaygeon and Music@Work) from the Skydome show on June 23, 2003 (first SARSTOCK?).

Heard the CD today, and the track sounds a bit punk. Gord also sounds out of key with his vocals. Guess it's what they were going for.

Look for it in Labatt Blue 28's. Nice freebie.

Cheers.

Hi there - wondering if anyone with some experience using hipclub ticket purchase privileges can help me out. When using your hipclub status on Ticketgouger to purchase tickets, what info do they need from you? Or do you simply log in to the hipclub when it is time to purchase tickets? Any help would be greatly appreciated - I don't want to miss out on great seats trying to figure out these things at 10:01 on Wednesday.

Do you guys tend to prefer the stations out of Canada over the stations in the States. And what stations out of Canada do you guys listen to?

Hi all,
I was downloading some tv show episodes from a newsgroup and .sfv/.par files were the only ones available. When i try to play them in my windows media player, it says they are unrecognized. Can someone tell me what i need to do to watch them. I don't know much about computers, so be simple yet thorough lol. Thanks, peace!!

the Hip's biography on rollingstone.com:

"Currently residing in the 'Where Are They Now?' file, these Canadians were on the verge of making it big in the late '80s and early '90s. Their almost unique blues-influenced pop just never caught on with Americans (nor the rest of the world) as much as it did in Canada."

'where are they now'? 'making it big'? 'almost unique'?
man oh man. the integrity of this magazine disapeared a long time ago along with anything even scarcely resembling substance in the mainstream.

just awful...

Is it me or is the price to see the hip at the molson amphitheatre a little ridiculous......$60 plus $15 in service charges = $75.....I went and saw them there in 2002 and didn't think the venue was that great, plus if i remeber correctly the show has to be done by 11pm as there is some rule that states that concerts can't go past 11 pm. I would much rather see them at one of the festivals for $30. Don't get me wrong, they're great live and I love their music but $75 is a bit much. I don't think i'm being cheap on this one either.
