...and I don't mean, favourite song. I mean, that bridge, or chorus, or guitar lick---any handful of seconds that just does it for you every time, that bit you're waiting for when the song comes on.

I've got an unexpected choice: when Gord's voice breaks at the very end of 'Summer is Killing Us.' You know: '...praise...[HICCUP!]...es.' I love how, just as you're about to wince, he goes 'WHOOO!' and the band kicks in again, letting you know he (and you) are having a blast. At that moment, you know this is gonna be a kick-ass, loose, straight-off-the-floor record. 8)

That, or the 'dorsal fin' part on 'Melt.' Like so many of Gord's invocations of impending violence and doom, that gives me the shivers.

OK, I really like this song.......kinda mellow and has alot of emotion in it. Does anyone else love this song? I think it's great. Also, does anyone hear a little bit of Locked in the Trunk in the beginning of Meanstreak?

I have the files for the show and I noticed Disc 1 and 2 were not marked. Where is everyone splitting the files for Disc 1 and 2? Thanks in advance.

After one concert and several listens to the CD, is there any better song to close the night out than "Goodnight, Joesephine"? I don't just mean from this album, but from any album the Hip have ever recorded? I personally think it would make a fantastic closer, or at least one one the last few songs in the encore.

hello there, after searching for copies of a few shows on dvd, all i've been able to come up with is some helpful folks from the US. my question is, is there anyone in Canada who has the ability to burn a few shows for me on dvd? I'm looking for Edgefest, the Skydome show, Woodstock and any of the recent 2004 shows if they are available yet. I'd prefer B+P in Canada, because trying to offer return postage from the US is a nightmare up here, and offering 2 for 1's can be expensive for each dvd, so if there is anyone in Canada who can provide these shows to a burnerless soul, please reply.

Look guys, I am just as much disappointed with FOX not airing Gord singing O Canada as you guys are. And I am also sick and tired of ignorant people from from this same so-called "country" making rude comments about it, as well. But, guys, I did not choose to be born and raised up in this so-called "country" - so how do you guys think I feel when I read these comments about us? From here

So why don't we all just accept the fact that both Canada and the US and every other nation in the world have their share of idiots and decent people. So how about we stop making unfair generalisations on nationalities just because of a few idiots from that country - and learn to accept everyone as individuals, okay?

If I had any choice in the matter as to what country to be born and raised up in, I would have picked Canada, so there!! :mad:

Also, one other thing, maybe I might even be able to sympathise with you guys who get annoyed with obnoxious Americans - if it wasn't for the fact that you guys were lumping all Americans into one category. In fact, these obnoxious Americans probably bug me even more so than it bugs you - since I'm the one who has to be surrounded by them everyday and live with being generalised against for what these idiots do. Fox takes break during O Canada

Tragically Hip tragically unheard


Fox TV axed "O Canada" and Tragically Hip frontman Gord Downie during baseball's all-star game telecast in Houston on Tuesday night, saying the pre-game show was long enough as it was.

"The Fox broadcast is aimed at a U.S. audience," Lou D'Ermilio, the network's senior vice-president of communications, said yesterday from Houston.

"The pre-game show is very lengthy with player introductions and other ceremonies and that helps us cut it down."

The broadcast went to commercial during Downie's rendition of "O Canada" following player introductions. When the show resumed, American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino was getting ready to sing "The Star-Spangled Banner."

The pre-game ceremonies continued with former heavyweight boxing champion Muhammad Ali bringing out the balls for the ceremonial first pitches.

Toronto 1, which simulcast the broadcast north of the border, said it got no complaints from viewers about Fox's decision. The station broadcasts in Southern Ontario and nationally through digital TV.
