I noticed that the show starts at 7:30 with no opener. I thought Joel Plaskett Emergency was opening but now on the website there is none listed. So, from my experiences working at this venue in the past, shows that start at 7:30 usually kick off at 8:00. But with doors at 6 (most likely), maybe they'll get it going sooner.
Here's what I wonder, I mean, every single show this season has gone until 11pm, since that is when the Noise Ordinance for the town of Darien goes into effect.
Will the Hip play from 8-11?? I really can't see it happening but wow would it be great. My guess is that they will try to find an opener come show time so the Hip can play 9-11 as they usually do here.
I will try to look into this, but just wondering what how you guys would read into the whole no opening act thing.
Maybe it will be another "Evening With" type thing one set, intermission, and then a second set, encore, encore... :jump
One can dream, right!

There is only one true independence and that is enlightenment. There is only one true freedom... People die fighting for relative freedom. It’s very silly because there is only one freedom. There is only one independence. There is only one -- and that comes from the inside out. You can have it on the inside, and it matters not what is going on with the outside, in the environment or even in your body. It makes no difference. Those that worship bodies might think it’s important but it is not.
How could there be? You get free from one boundary and you impose another one. You throw off one government and then immediately build another one over your head. It’s ever been so… particularly when the one you build today is worse than the one you had yesterday. Freedom is real. It’s not to be had by anything on the outside. There is no external impulse of life that can give freedom. There is nothing, nothing on the outside that can give freedom.
Freedom comes from the inside. If you have that, you have everything. If you don’t have that, you have nothing. All the wealth of the world won’t give you freedom. It might make your movement through the boundaries easier, but that is not the same as freedom.
Freedom lies exclusively in the dominion of consciousness. Consciousness knows no boundaries in its pure state. The boundaries of life are on the outside. They are, without exception, illusions. There is no reality in them. There is no reality to them. The boundaries of life are fantasies, are dreams with no truth.
Enlightenment is awareness of the Ascendant -- permanent awareness of the One. It has nothing to do with flashy little things on the outside. You could say that George is fully enlightened because he could pull good cards out of the air and George would attract quite a following if he could do that regularly and consistently but he might be more ignorant than your dog.
Freedom is something internal, not external.
Has anyone else run into the guys on the street, etc? Before their show(M@W tour)at the Bottle and Cork in Dewey Beach, DE I ran into Gord, Johnny, and Gord Sinclair walking up the road to a diner. They were all wearing flip-flops and were really nice. Also, chatted with Gord briefly before his solo show at the Ram's Head in Annapols, MD. Very cool and down to earth cat.
only four shots back after 2 rounds in the british open, although you would hardly know it with the lack of coverage he gets...
I like this could fetch a handsome price. I am sure there are willing buyers for it.

Oh and feel free to upload your own pictures there to share...its not my personal account. Someone has already donated some nudies!

I took a moment to reflect on this the other day. I remember the first time I saw The Hip in concert I thought to myself that the show would have been so much better had there not been so much ranting during the songs and had Gord just let the music go on. Now I become almost disappointed if a song is played almost exactly as per the album, without any ranting or jamming in between.
Anybody else gone through this kinda change of heart?
Another good U.S. Review of IBE, this time from South Carolina.
