Are there any easy programs out there for decoding SHN to Wav?
The only one I have is a DOS version, and DOS it not something I always want to use.
Type in this type in that, etc... DOS bugs me.
Any help?

So my friend has this fighting game where you can customize the characters.

I created Gord "The Messiah" Downie and Chad "Dr. Douchebaggery" Nickelback Guy (He appeared as "Dr. Douchebaggery Nick" on the screen! )

...and you'll be happy to know that Gord kicked his ass hardcore!

It was the athletic event of the century, as all 165lbs of Gord laid a serious mule-level whuppin on Chad.

Dr. D tried to mount an offense of open hand slaps and pinches, but Downie's spinning ability (Yep, he CAN spin without the aid of a mic stand!) and thunderous boots to the junk were just too much for Chad to handle.

Gord's finishing move is called the "Anyway Susan" and involves picking his opponent up over his head, and driving him heartlessly into the ground head first. It's fun for the whole family.

Next Up: Gord "I'm a full grown man!" Downie vs. The Microphone Stand - Doncha Dare Miss It!

If this is true, and we are able to vote (And as some have suggested, a collective Hipbase vote might be in order...) what ONE song can we all agree should be played in Kingston. And if we can't agree, let's at least come up with a majority selection.

We can do it in a preferential ballot type deal, which means list your top 3 choices in order.

If one song keeps coming out on top, obviously, there's yer winner. Otherwise, it's the song that appears the most times. (I'll count em up in a week or so)

We should omit Fiddler's Green for obvious reasons and probably anything from the self titled debut, seeing as how the boys mentioned being embarassed by it during the IBE preview.

Hey everyone the hip will be recording and selling their upcoming shows - I dont have anymore info at the moment just that this will be announced soon with more details but finally - A+ quality boots of hip shows

I swear to Gord that we had 1800+ users registered at the bottom of the main forum pages and the number just dropped to 1684!! Is there a problem in our little Hip temple or can someone unregister themselves? (And 200 some-odd people just suddenly decided to "unregister" themselves at the same time?)

It was the early 90's when my husband picked up a tape by a band called The Tragically Hip. The title of it was called "Road Apples", and he would play it now and then when we were driving somewhere.

I would inevitably cringe, and suffer through it - wondering how our usual synch with music taste could veer so off course. The band was too raw, and the vocals grated on my nerves. I would let him get through the tape one time, and then insist on putting in something else.

So, much to my chagrin, he later bought a new tape by them called "Day for Night". He played it, and I tried my best to block out the noise as I went about my business. He kept saying to me..."I don't know why, but this band is really growing on me. Give it some time... maybe you'll like it too."

Yeah, RIGHT! His insistence almost made me want to dislike them even more... so I didn't give it much thought.

And then, one day... we had just finished loading up the car for our annual trek down to the Oregon Coast. We hit the road, turning up the familiar highway that cuts through the mountains... a good five hours of driving ahead of us.

He tried to hide the fact that he was putting The Hip into the stereo... but I knew what he was doing. I sunk back in my seat a little more, bracing myself for their music while careening over the high mountain passes. 'Grace, Too' began to filter in through the speakers, and I stared out the window at the endless pine trees rushing by.

~*~He said "I'm fabulously rich... c'mon let's just go..."~*~

As I sat there...despite all my efforts, the music got into my brain. Gord's vocals strolled right past my irritation, and gave a little pat to my Temporal Lobe. It was as if he was right there saying, "sort this, honey... sort it out!"

The band... they sounded so powerful. The energy was lurking beneath the surface, and was churning up the water in dark, brooding ways. And there was Gord, leading the whole freight train right through my conciousness.

I found myself staring straight ahead at the road... smiling to myself. Something had just happened... something really, really good.

The song ended, and in the space between... I murmured outloud, "Wow... they rock."

My husband glanced at me. "What?"

"That band... they... they rock!"

He grinned. We looked at eachother a moment, and then back at the road. The tape kept playing..... and by the end, I was laughing out loud.

Yeah, this band rocked. Kicked ass. Blew my mind. Ruined me for all other bands.

"So you see it now? You see what I mean?!?" my husband said.

"Oh yeah. Without... a...freaking... doubt." I said. And I meant it.

We didn't listen to anything else during that whole trip.

Ever since then, we've been in complete unison about our love for The Hip. A soundtrack to life, Gord style. So many stories to tell about it, too - but I'll save those for another ramble.

So now I look back, and can't believe there was a time when I couldn't stand The Hip. Silly me. I should've known there was no resisting them.

After evesdropping in on my hubby ("Jet" here on the boards) having all the fun posting here, I decided to get in on the action myself.

After I get a little more caffiene flowing through the veins, I'll post about my "Hip Awakening". Heheh, yes... they tend to have that effect on people, don't they?

We are pleased and excited to announce that The Tragically Hip will be headlining a day-long benefit concert on Sunday, September 12th, 2004 on the playing fields of The Royal Military College of Canada in Kingston, Ontario.

The as-yet-to-be-named event is being put on in conjunction with THE GREATER KINGSTON COMMUNITY FOUNDATION, a wonderful, "umbrella-type" organisation, that will administer the monies raised which will benefit the Joe Chithalen Musical Lending Library and Camp Trillium. More information on the specific charities involved and how you can be a part of it will be announced soon. The band is very happy to be organising this event which will greatly benefit these charities that they consider very near and dear to their hearts.

We are still in the planning stages of the event and will be confirming the show lineup and all other specifics over the next couple weeks. Please check back here for breaking news surrounding the event.
