Hey folks! I was just browsing the new Lowest of the Low site, and I came across this link where you can order/download a copy of their Aug. 20 Buffalo show and they'll ship you a fully mastered double-disc set complete with cool packaging. I've heard rumors that the Hip might be doing something similar for their upcoming tour. Here's hoping!

Anyway, it's $30 for the fully packaged CD including shipping. They also give you the option of downloading the show and burning your own copy for only $15. Here's the link:

TORONTO - Bill Daly, NHL Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer, today released the following statement:

"We are extremely disappointed with what the Union presented to us today. Not only did the Union's proposal fail to move the process toward a resolution but, in fact, represented a step backwards in the process.

"As we predicted, two weeks ago in Ottawa, the Union has simply repackaged its original unacceptable and ineffective proposal from 15 months ago -- and even watered it down. Even under the Union's modeling and projections, which we do not agree with or accept, more than half of our Clubs would still lose money and nearly a third of the Clubs would still lose in excess of $10 million each season.

"Nothing more clearly demonstrates the Union's unwillingness to acknowledge or meaningfully address this League's problems than this recycled proposal.

"No further meetings are scheduled at this time."

Remember these guys?? Sadly I never got into them back in the day. I saw them open for the Hip twice in '95 and '97, and for some reason I never really gave them a proper listen, and shame on me. Recently I was reading the chapter on them in the book "Have Not Been the Same", and it made me want to give them another chance. And thanks to my favorite used record store here in Cowtown, I'm now rediscovering the genius that is Ian Blurton and Change of Heart. I absolutely love these guys now! Better late than never I guess. A few weeks ago I found a copy of "Tummysuckle" and today I picked up their last disc "Steelteeth" which is one of the hardest rocking albums I've ever heard. Blurton is a very good songwriter with a great gift for melody. It's a mystery why they never got more exposure outside of the indie-rock community, especially after touring with the Hip so often. I have yet to find a copy of their 1992 masterpiece "Smile", but I'm always on the lookout. Apparently their pre-'92 albums are all out of print, otherwise I'd be looking for those too.

on monday i seen the allman brothers {great show by the way} and prior to the show they sold vouchers to buy the show on cd. they said it would be ready 10 minutes after the show. sure enough and outstanding 3 disc set was ready when promised. are the hip going this route or the way gord did on his solo tour?? or possibly the way pearl jam did there shows by posting mp3's hours after the show and mailing a mixed finish product a week later. i haven't seen anything official although i'd expect an announcement before the kingston bash. has anyone heard more??

Yes, it appears the Weird Al song has rung true for one Ken Jennings...unofficial (obviously) reports report that he lost a show taped yesterday, his 76th. That means he walks away with 75 wins and over $2.5 million for his smarts.

I don't watch Jeopardy because I get mad when I know the answers and all three of them guess wrong. Game shows infuriate me. But I will be watching when we get closer to #76...it'll be a couple months yet though because we're still on #42.
