Only six more sleeps until the start of the US tour in my hometown of Detroit! I will be following the band with my small group of friends during the beginning, middle and end of this tour.

Even though I usually see The Hip perform anywhere from 2-4 times each tour, this time around I am seeing even more shows due to the fact that the tour schedule is very compatible with my schedule and many of the shows fall within my 'driving range'.

These roadtrips will be somewhat costly, but this may be my last and only chance to do something like this. It does seem a little crazy, but I get to see my favorite band and meet many of the cool Hipbasers from different parts of the US and Canada. I also figure I am increasing my chances of hearing a rarity at one of the shows. My anticipation and excitement for this tour is building.

By the way, I am jealous of all of you who get to see The Hip make their triumphant return to their hometown. :mrgreen:

A pensioner stole £10,000 from a bank in Peru without anyone noticing.

The woman, nicknamed the Silent Grandma by the local press, stole the money from the Sul-Americano Bank in Lima, reports Terra Noticias Populares.

She waited outside the bank manager's office until he came out, then entered, took the money and left within a few minutes.

After looking at CCTV footage, the only conclusion the police have reached so far is that the woman seems to be around 65 years old.

A police spokesperson said: "She was extremely discreet. We are beginning to think she committed the perfect crime. But we will study the footage over and over to try and find out more about her."

I came on to hipbase this morning to express my excitement for the Philadelphia show (only two weeks...two short little weeks that will hopefully fly by...) and found all sorts of good news....DVD, Kari's little anoucement, new hip fans coming to the board. Yes, today is a very good day. :mrgreen:

I've done a search but can't seem to find much info on Hipbase about the wall in Kingston. I wanted to stop by tomorrow for a pic? Any pointers or pictures ?

AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - What's a big cud-chewing Scottish cow have to do with preserving public decency?



According to the mayor of a small Dutch town, allowing Highland heifers to graze in a nearby nature reserve will help deter couples who have scandalized the upright citizens of Spaarnwoude with their open-air sex antics.


Mayor Ellen van Hoogdalem-Arkema said the brazen behavior of amorous outdoor enthusiasts has angered and embarrassed people walking their dogs in the reserve or taking their grandchildren for a stroll.


"Visitors experience great annoyance from people having sex in public and apparently the presence of the cows turns the people off having sex," the mayor said.


The idea of using cows to cool passions in the park originated from another nature reserve south of Amsterdam, which saw an unexpectedly serendipitous reduction in sex prowlers after allowing the cows to graze in its fields.


Van Hoogdalem-Arkema said that the reserve's status as public land made problem tricky to solve and urgent.


"I just got off the phone with a man who was cycling in the area with his children, when suddenly two naked men came running across the road." she added with a sigh.

Hey guys, I just found R.E.M.'s new video for the single "Leaving New York" from the forthcoming album and it's AMAZING! It reminds me a bit of E-Bow the Letter, but a lot more sparse and the performance clips are fantastic...Michael looks great. He's even wearing Gord's white suit from Good Life!! :jump This is easily the best video since the New Adventures singles.

As for the song itself, I'm please to report MIKE HAS HARMONIES AGAIN!! Yippee ki yay! The one thing that really detracted from Reveal is here in full force. The song sounds like it could have come from Up, it's so lush and atmospheric and had a real bittersweet tone to it...

If anybody wants the video, post your MSN address and I'll send it along! You won't be disappointed!

So When the Hip play a secret show in Calgary they dont email a secret password, and I live in Calgary. Now they email me everyday with passwords to shows in the USA......ARRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHH!!!

Hello hipbasers,

I'm pondering going to the shows in Toldeo on October 29th and Grand Rapids on the 30th. Is anyone else making the trip from the Greater Toronto Area? Yahoo maps says it's 5.5 hours of driving to Toledo and then about 3 hours to Grand Rapids from Toledo. Not too bad, I'm thinking head down for the shows, get cheap rooms and head back on Sunday. I'm not 100% sure but is anyone else thinking of it or would be willing to make the trek with me?
