I can't wait! This will be the first rock show at the new MTS Centre... and Winnipeg is the fastest selling concert in Canada so far.

MTS Centre is supposed to have amazing acoustics... I just can't wait... fuck yeah! It's still under construction, but should be ready in time, when the 50 year-old Winnipeg Arena shuts down for good.

Who else is going?

Did anybody watch this CBC production? For those wondering its a fictional story about the assisination of the Canadian prime-minister that leads into a story of conspiracy, corruption and right-dismissal. I was fairly impressed with the movie, as it was a CBC feature. But my question for you who did watch it: The US can't really do that can they? That, along with the movie, was entirely fictional, right? And the facts about fresh water, its not really that dim-looking is it?

George Bush and John Kerry somehow ended up at the same barbershop for their pre-election haircuts.
They sat there,each worked on by a different barber. Not a word was spoken. The barbers were even afraid to start a conversation, for fear it would turn to politics.
As the barbers finished their respective shaves, the one who had Kerry in his chair reached for the aftershave.
Kerry was quick to stop him, saying,"No thanks, My wife Theresa will smell that and think I`ve been to a brothel."
The second barber turned to Bush and said,"How about you?"
Bush replied,"Go ahead. My wife doesn`t know what the inside of a brothel smells like."

Sergei Zholtok, a centre who finished the 2003-2004 NHL season with the Nashville Predators, died Wednesday in Latvia. He was 31.
A third-round pick of the Boston Bruins in 1992, Zholtok played 588 NHL games for six teams, scoring 111 goals and 258 points.
Zholtok was playing for Riga in Latvia this year and collapsed in the team's dressing room before a game in Belarus. Zholtok was forced to the sidelines a couple of times last year with mysterious health ailments that included dizziness and fatigue. RDS is reporting that he suffered from cardiac arrhythmia.
Zholtok had his greatest success with the Minnesota Wild, scoring a career-high 42 points in 2002-2003, then following up with 13 points in 18 playoff games as the Wild made an improbable run to the Western Conference Finals..
He also played for Ottawa, Montreal and Edmonton in the NHL.

Wikipedia, the free online encyclopedia I find very entertaining and useful and user-friendly, has Gord Downie listed, but they only say that he is the lead singer of the Hip and has two solo albums. Below this information is an option to tell Wikipedia more, and get a more appropriately detailed listing for the great man we all admire.

So...I'm opening the floor to any and all biographical information about Gord. Birthdate & place? Info from before the band? Awards he has won? Anything relating to his published poetry? Charitable affiliations? Family? Hobbies outside the band?

I would really like to see Gord get some recognition in the big book! Hope you guys can fill in the many, many blanks left by the current listing!
