why not start a thread that brought us all here to begin with...i'm interested how you first heard them or got into them..that "instant" that you believed they would be a part of your life forever! i'll never forget hearing New Orleans in an A and B sound in vancouver...grabbed me right away..."what the hell is this?" i asked the clerk.."it's amazing"...the guy told me, showed me, i picked it up and my life has never been the same since...

What's the deal with these files. Just downloaded my motown show from 9/18 and cannot play these.

Do I need some software?

I listened to the entire album again this morning as I worked out. Honestly, I think from the top down this is a nearly perfect album.

Curious as to how many others would include it in their top five. And if anyone would agree in that, with the exception of a few songs (M@W, Dire Wolf), this album is light years ahead of M@W and IVL.

The Hip played a concert in Toronto on Nov. 26th. They are making a DVD out of that show to commemorate their 20th anniversary next year.
The sale item is a set list from the stage of that show, and one of Gord Downie's broken guitar strings - which he mentioned in the show!

Unless any of you have seen the show and want to review it, don't post in the Show Reviews section. these threads are not called "Are you excited about the upcoming show?" or "What songs do you want to hear?"

this is seriously the most irritating thing on this whole site. I hate when people post dumb shit in the review section before the show even takes place. if i were a moderator i would delete half of the dumb posts in that area. nobody should have to skip to page 3 just to see the setlist.

Figured it could use it's own thread as folks begin to get ahold of it.

To me, it's the rant set to music, not a complete song. It doesn't seem to
go anywhere, and it's obvious why it was left off the album: there's just no
spark. It's an accurate depiction of "not trying to hide the lights" or the
way Gord often refers to "the process," but it deserved to be cut.

And as cfernehy mentioned earlier, it's kind of a blatant cash grab from the new management as opposed to the free IVL releases through Hip Club.

This song just doesn't cut it for me.
