Is there an individual in charge of it? I sent an email to someone, was hoping to get a response back...

After having thorougly enjoyed Dame's thread on embarrassing "romantic" moments, I thought it might be appropriate to begin one about the opposite. I proposed to my girlfriend this past weekend and she accepted. I think that makes for a fantastic Valentine's Day.

Yesterday, Valentines Day, at around 3:30 in the afternoon, I was walking across Confederation Square in downtown Ottawa. It's surrounded by the Gothic Parliament Buildings and Ottawa's vintage hotels, and the War Memorial is right smack in the middle.

Two girls, my age maybe a bit younger, were walking across the square, each with two roses in their hands: one red, one yellow. They were dressed nicely, probably coming from work somewhere downtown.

As they passed, I noticed the roses had small cards attached with something written on them, and heart-shaped logos in the corners.

These two young girls walked up to memorial, stopped in front of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, knelt down, kissed their fingers, touched the marker above the tomb, and placed their roses across his grave.

Maybe I'm a shmuck, but that moved me, a real nice thing to do I thought.

Allan Gregg, Brian Mulroney's right hand man and the guy who discovered and signed a certain five piece band from Kingston, wrote the cover story to this months Walrus with Pierre Trudeau on the cover.

It's a really cool piece if yer into that sorta thing, and I know there's been some nifty political debates round here lately, and Gregg is Hip connected so I figured I'd mention it...

I was listening to the live London show on the weekend. During Fully, Gord does one of this famous band "introductions" during one of the song's pauses. This time it was "Mr. Johnny Faye" before kicking back into the song. That got me thinking. What do we really know about this guy? Would anyone disagree that we hear the least about this member of the band? Some people have told me that he is the hardest of the guys to get to (i.e. autographs, chats after the show, etc.) Someone else also told me he was a bit of a germ freak. Not really one to want to shake hands or give out big hugs to the ladies. Just wondering if anyone had any stories about Mr. Faye. Also, can anyone think of one particular tune that really showcases this drummer's talents?

My son was watching TV last night and I wasn't really paying attention, but a car commercial came on (Pontiac, I believe) and I could swear it used the riff from Three Pistols.

The cars are on a stage in front of rows of screaming fans and the riff repeats a few times. There are no vocals, or to be more accurate, there's a wordless vocal over top, but it's unmistakeably Three Pistols.

Anybody else seen (heard) this? Am I nuts?

Alright so, if its been done then please feel free to fill this thread with "stop making duplicate threads" comments...but I digress..

I'll name an intro line, you name the song, you name a new intro line, someone else names a song...sound good?

I dl'ed this off the tracker and am finally listening to it on my headphones at work, so i can hear some of the quieter Gordie parts better....

Anyway, at the beginning he dedicates Gift Shop to Connor, and during the song sings something like "My name is Connor, I'm 5 years old," and the what sounds like "I have cancer"????? or something...

I was just curiuos if anyone knew the story behind this......
