hey all. does anyone know of a decent program that will convert an avi file to wmv?

i tried windows media encoder, but you need a damn super computer to run that program. i can't find any other decent ones.

any suggestions?

I was thrilled when I watched the local news and saw the USA Hockey team practicing here in the Adirondacks. I think they do every year but never noticed because the NHL was always in action.

Anyway, They're in Lake Placid at the newly named Herb Brooks Arena, formerly known as The Lake Placid Olympic Arena. They're obviously americans but there are some who play for Canadian teams. Not sure if the practices are open to the public. They are getting ready for the World Championships in Switzerland.

Has anyone purchased goods over the internet and had them shipped to Canada
by FedEx or any other courier? How much is Duty?

To be specific, I want to buy some golf clubs for about $800.00 Canadian, they will be shipped by FedEx.

Any advice on previous experiences,
or roughly an estimate on the so called "hidden" or unexpected costs will be greatly appreciated.

I'm just kinda wondering, because it's impossible to assemble their #@%&! furniture without repeatedly taking the Lord's name in vain.

While fumbling around with the research for the 'Use It Up' entry for the site, I found some info, and luckily a few demonstrative quotes, from three of the four men referenced in the song and their "Use it Up" attitudes towards life.

It seems the G-man has an appreciation for those who do, or more precisely: those who do AND write about it.

I've noticed the theme from "Courage" stretches into "Use It Up." The notion that life is a series of opportunities, the result of how you handle those opportunities being your measure of success or failure in the end. You could probably find a link between many of the men and women (now that I think about it, there aren't many women) Gord writes about besides those in "Courage" and "Use" (Fox, Thompson, Trudeau, Milgaard etc.) and that 'never give up, defy the odds, acheive what you need on your terms' kinda philosophy.

Post modernism also links Maclennan, Carver and Gardner, and has been a pretty obvious theme of Gord's which I think was best described by Bobby when he talked to Mike Downie in Heksenketel: "You know Gord... He's constantly re-evaluating."

Anyway, just thought it might shed a little light on that magnificent mind of Gord's. Here's the quotes which highlight some of that fearlessness and post modernity, and then we can all go back to not giving a shit:

About Carver: "...what his highly-acclaimed stories tell (us) about others: the grind of poverty, the ruin of alcohol, the endless threat of breakdown and break-up, the resolve of those who keep going when their only sure direction is down." (That last bit coulda come straight outta "Courage")

hey guys, when i play the Benfit For Asia windows media player file of the boys doing a great version of "good life" my audio is out of sync with the video, like a small delay, enough that gord's mouth doesn't look like he' singing the same song, ahaha.

anyways, any suggestions on hoe i can correct this slight minor problem?
i've xperienced it with some other clips as well before from various areas.

I just opened up a sealed copy of the ALAN PARSONS PROJECT "pyramid" CD and it had two identical CD booklets.

Has this ever happened to anyone else? I've never seen this before.

Since Canada borders New York and we have many New Yorkers on the board I wanted to make you all aware of this interesting new law on the books.

If you are traveling on the interstate or any four lane divided highway and a State Trooper has someone pulled over and you are able to pull into the passing lane and you do not, or if you can't and you don't slow down, you can get a ticket. It's considered a 'nuisance ticket'.

Just wanted to give you all a heads up if you're traveling in New York State.
