Just wanted to give a shout about a concert poster show happening this weekend in Columbus, OH. If you are in the Midwest and within driving distance you should try to make the trip. The show is called Eye Damage and it will feature the poster art of Jason Goad, Mike Martin/Enginehouse 13, James Decker, myself (Will Ruocco), FNHarsh, and Clint Reno.

We will be displaying posters we've done for a whole range of different bands with a range of different styles. Should be something for everyone. There will be a lot of limited edition and collectible silk-screened prints available. Many of my Hip posters will be showcased, but not for sale...most everything else will be. It should be pretty cool. The co-author of the Art of Modern Rock and the Art of Rock, Paul Grushkin will be there to sell and sign books too.

Grushkin will be also lecturing at Ohio State University on Wednesday April 20th in the Union lecture Hall at 7pm with slides of over 500 posters. He's an expert on concert posters past and present. It will be one of just a few Midwest lectures/presentations on his tour.

Please spread the word...tell everyone and anyone you know that might be interested. The poster show is Friday April 22 7pm-10pm and Saturday April 23 1pm-10pm at Fat Eddies/Promowest Pavilion. Admission is free. It's a good chance to meet the artists first hand and expose yourself to some great art. Hope you some of you can make it!

All I can say is, "Boo."

I was going through my Hip shows that are saved on my computer tonight and was listening to some tracks from the 11/26/96 show at Marine Midland Arena, at least it was MMA at the time. Its one of my favorites because I was there, with my fiance, now wife. I put on 100th meridian and for some reason Gords rant right after "I remember Buffalo" finally sunk into my thick skull. He mentions "I remember a lot of people gettin out of school, I remember a lot of bands, I remember a lot of drinking". That may not be in the proper order, but its close. The rant concludes with Gord getting hit in the head with a big boot. Most of you WNY fans should remember what he is referring to. It was Spring Fest 1993 at UB. I wasn't there, but a friend of mine was and told the same story. Many college students, done with the semester, most drunk and mainly non Hip fans. I think the Hip were the last band to go on that day. Some drunk threw a boot that hit Gord and they walked off, as well they should. I can't believe it took me almost ten years to notice that. I feel kinda dumb.

Does anybody remember the childrens book Gord spoke about during the "In Violet Light" Live Radio premiere in 2002. I know he went to a bookstore outside Boston, and the word "Mrs." or "Miss" rings a bell, but I can't place the book... I believe he was referencing 'Throwing Off Glass.'

I'm digging around for the tape, but I figure somebody 'round here can answer the question much faster.

Well since radio sucks and i refuse to pay for xm or sirrus. I decided i would take two hip boots with me for my drive, today i founds some gems that i hadn't listen to in a long while

1. 8/22/98 zoo amphitheatre toledo ohio -- great with emperor penguin and escape is at hand ,
2. 7/1/95 high sierra music festival bear valley california- this one has at the end of fight , gord starts to sing flamenco which i don't believe was out yet when this show was recorded.


i so now everyday i will take a few hip boots for my drive to make the day start out great instead of some crazy radio station promotion of screaming dj or just plain crap

Ever since Gord rang off those lines at the Junos I've been interested in this band...

I had heard of them, but haven't heard anything from them (aside from the song 'Aside')...

Can anyone recommend any songs or albums to pick up to get me started on them?

The Trews are playing the Year end party at Wilfrid Laurier University. I really hope they still have tickets left, i just found out today.

OK, I don't want to receive a backlash from you all about heresay and rumours, but I will preface this by saying that it came from a very reliable source...a high ranking Canadian Military Policeman who is stationed at the National Defence Headquarters here in Ottawa.

I was over at my friends house this weekend who is a City of Ottawa cop and as most cops do over beers they swap tales, and this MP had my attention when he told a story of during the attacks of 9/11 in the States when he was on duty, and as the entire area around the Canadian DND was being locked down, they noticed a cube van that was parked on the Laurier Street Bridge (right next to the DND Headquarters)and when they approached the vehicle they noticed it had been abandoned but upon further inspection they discovered that it was loaded to the gunnels with tons of explosives which they suspect was headed for the underground parking area (a la World Trade Tower 1995) lucky for us the van had stalled out and was left deserted.

Obviously this was the first I had heard of this, and I can understand why the powers that be would want this kind of story kept under wraps. My question is has any one else, particularly in the Ottawa area, heard whispers of this?

I know it does sound a little too grandiose to be true, but the XFiler in all of us has to wonder...and like I said if it was anyone else who told me this story I may be skeptical but he is the real deal.
