I've decided to get a Hip related tattoo. I've had the thought of getting a tattoo in the back of my mind for years, but haven't had anything done yet. Now I'm in. It's not like I'll stop adoring this band after almost 30 years of being obsessed.

I'm thinking something on my shoulder, 2" square or so, maybe an outline of a polar bear with "The Hip" in it, a red maple leaf, a bit of lyric.... We shall see what I decide on.

Anyone else have Hip tattoos they'd like to share, or thoughts on how or what they got?

I just received my tickets to the July 30th show, and they came with admission to K-days for any day. Can we get to Rexall place without entering K-Days? I'd love to spend an entire day at the fair the day before the show for free.

We have been conducting auctions of fan donated merch with all proceeds going to Sunnybrook Hospital. One generous fan, and member of hipbase donated a signed copy of the FC box set, but not only they outbid everyone else to the tune of $700+ to win the auction.Thank you so much KLEH for the feel good Canada Day Weekend story!

I've got a pair for Sunday August 14th in Toronto and I'm looking to swap for a pair for Friday August 12th in TO. Tickets are section 310, row 10, seats 12,13. Looking for two seats together anywhere in the building (other than the behind the stage seats sold during the second ticket release) on Friday. Will gladly pay you the difference if face value of your pair is higher. Please email me at ajohnwebber@hotmail.com if you are interested in a trade. Thanks.

In anticipation of the upcoming tour, I thought it would be a good time to reflect upon our favourite personal Hip experiences, at a live concert or otherwise. This may be a lot harder for the oldtimers who have seen them 50+ times!

My favourite is probably at the Wonder Ballroom in Portland, 2012, when Steve Berlin played tenor sax on So Hard Done By and NOIS. The booming, driving saxophone line brought both songs to whole other levels.

My favourite Mr. Downie moment, however, will always be at Rifflandia Festival in Vic BC in 2010. The power cut-out in the middle of Vancouver Divorce, and instead of just hanging back and waiting for it to come back, Gord managed to muster up enough volume to lead each half of the audience to chant his background music while he continued to sing/rant impromptu lyrics about man's dependency on electricity until the power came back on 5 minutes later and he jumped right back into the song with the rest of the band as if nothing had happened. Nothing could take energy away from Gord's performance, not even the complete lack of electricity on an outdoor stage. The impression he left will not be forgotten by anyone who was at that concert.

Assuming they use one tune for the majority of the shows, what's your likely opener?

While an odd choice, my gut tells me it will be Man, followed by Possessed just like the album.

Peter Mansbridge said that 'a member of The Tragically Hip' was one of the invited guests to the Obama speech in Ottawa yesterday. Tried to keeps my eyes peeled but didn't see anything. Anyone know who made it up?
