Okay folks, seems some of you actually received discs 6 and 7 even though I don't remember giving them out, but disc 8 sat in a box when I moved back to ontario. Just went over the tracklisting for it, a couple cool tracks:
-very early "The Bear" references
-early "The Bastard" snips
-way too many "Insomniacs," "100 years Old," and "Into Thin Air" snips
-early "Poets," "Chagrin Falls," And "Vapor Trails" snips

All in all, 24 tracks, though I was surprised the early "Locked in the Trunk.." I harvested didn't make the cut, I'll have to dig it out again (wait, just looked at disc 7 and there is a Locked on track 18...wonder if this is the same one, it's from 1990 or 1991 Courtcliffe Park show in Carlisle, Ontario...I'll have to give a listen...)

Regardless, ths project sort of died after the release of "Coke Machine Glow" and "M@W," was wondering if people were still interested in these discs and whether people would be willing to help work on finding snippets from IVL and IBE...

Perhaps a mod could make this a sticky so that no one else ever gets confused about me? And maybe this thread could become the lone spot for everyone who's got a beef with me to post their issues, rather than drag down the rest of the site?

It's amazing how thinned skinned some people can be; so much so that my posts could incite them to start not one, but two threads about me. And in their hyper excited state, they put them in the wrong forum... as this is clearly "Non Tragically Hip Discussion"

But I've posted in the "FAQ / Getting Started / Forum News" thread, because "Who died and made me moderator?" is probably a frequently asked question.

And "Chris is an asshole" is probably something that everyone should learn as they are getting started.

Alrighty, I made a couple of mispalced/repeated posts, in my overzealous attempt to integrate quickly into the HipBase community I guess its time I play by the rules...

Hello all!

My name is Kyle McEwen and I have been a hip fan since birth! Mainly through my father, as I was actually born the year of their first release, but none the less I consider myself a true Devotee. I look foreward to meeting everyone and participating as much as I can. I live in Calgary AB. I dont have a favorite Album because i measure them all equally, but some of my favorite songs are Opiated(duh) Emerpor penguin, Last of the Unplucked Gems, The Dire Wolf, Are we Family, Annother midnight, etc etc.

Anyway, I hope I've done this one right, as this is the place for "getting started"

events, shows, anything you've been a part of that you can look back now and say.."wow..that's kind of cool"..for me it's realizing that i saw nirvana's last canadian show ever...seems cool to me anyways...anybody have something ??

I've had an mp3 of the Hip doing Gordon Lightfoot's "Summerside of Life" that I probably found off of WinMX or Bearshare ages ago. I just did a search through the Setlist Archive, and found the only 2 shows that have this song listed in the set, are 1995-07-22 (Another Roadside Attraction, Markham, ON), and 1995-07-23 (Another Roadside Attraction, Capital City Speedway, Ottawa, ON)

I'm wondering if anyone who has these shows might be able to torrent them on the tracker, or send me a pm to set up a b&p.

  Hip "Best of" MSN dealie

I take it most of us have taken the survey asking our 10 favorite hip songs, and im sure its old news so I wont ask again. What I am interested in is the "demographics" of this apparent fan-chosen best of CD. When I chose my 10 songs I chose 1 from each CD (excluding Live Between us). And I didnt choose the big hit singles.
But what im really getting at is: What should the Best of CD consist of, I strongly believe it should span the entire recording career of the Hip, leaving no album untouched, which is why I also belive that 10 songs is too few. (they may include more, but only ask for 10 votes I s'pose) I also think that the band might benifet from a seperate realease in Canada to the rest of the world, perhpas a double-disc here and a single elsehwhere, that would include more more mainstream hit type stuff from the early years.

Any thoughts?
