It also becomes the highest charting box set in almost 10 years. The last time a box set charted this high was when the original Oh What A Feeling climbed to No. 3, in March 1996. However, the record for the biggest boxed set of all time is still held by Bruce Springsteen's retrospective Live/1975-85, which entered The Record's album chart at No. 35 the week ending Nov. 24, 1986, and then shot to No. 1 the very next week. It eventually held the top spot for seven weeks.

Hipeponymous' debut is also good news for The Tragically Hip. It is the Kingston, Ont.-based band's 11th entry on the album chart and its first since last year. In Between Evolution debuted at the top of the list in July 2004, becoming The Tragically Hip's eighth No. 1 album. The two best-of audio CDs from Hipeponymous, repackaged as Yer Favourites, is expected to debut on the chart next week and become the band's 12th chart album.

Rick was in fine form again this week. The polar bears in Churchill, MB were very cool and the freezing water thing he did in Winnipeg was great. My favourite part was when he had been in the water for a few minutes and then asked why he couldn't hear his heart on the monitor anymore and then remarked, "I think my penis is inverted. This goes beyond shrinkage." It was classic Mercer again tonight.

"The Barenaked Ladies are releasing their next album via a reusable 128 MB USB flash drive. From the Seattle Post-Intelligencer article: 'Rather than distribute via CD, DVD or download, the Barenaked Ladies are making their newest selection of songs, videos and exclusive material available on a USB flash drive. Nettwerk Music Group is releasing Barenaked on a Stick beginning today, says the Hollywood Reporter. It plays on PCs, Macs and any other audio product with a USB port -- like some car stereos -- and costs $30.'"

This is the e-mail received from the Low...I hope they are not taking a break that turns into one where they never put things together. I know it was posted earlier that they were writing new music, and from the songs played at recent shows, that seemed to be true...BUT, here is the mail:


Greetings from your friends and Abstinence-Only Advocates Lowest of the Low;
So, it’s like this:

A little over a year ago we released the album Sordid Fiction upon an unsuspecting world. We had been reunited for a few years at that point, and felt it was important to reassert ourselves as a relevant and current band. We were very happy with the results, and crossed Canada a few times to support our effort, meeting old friends and gaining new ones along the way. We also paid some memorable visits to our neighbours in Buffalo, a city that has always been a second home to us. It’s all been extremely fun.

Recently we spent time considering what to do next. The idea was to assess where we are as a group; pondering all those agonizing tangible and intangible factors that go into making our Artistic Selves happy or unhappy. Many options were considered.

The end result of these deliberations is that Ron is going to make a solo album, and the band is going to scale back its activity for the next while. We don’t have any shows scheduled beyond the ones listed below, and won’t be recording together in the near future. We’re not saying that there won’t be any more shows, as we are all still extremely fond of each other (in a very manly, Liberal Elite way, of course) and enjoy playing music together, but for now, it’s not going to be a priority.

As always, we would like to sincerely thank all of you for taking an interest in what we do, and for the unwavering support you’ve shown us over the years. It is truly and deeply appreciated. You rock.

Can any one tell me how (if possible) to make an audio cd of a music dvd using a dvd player and only a cd burner in my computer.

I tried the search function but came up empty.

  Adding a thrid monitor

Hopefully someone has experience with this. I currently have two monitors hooked up to my dell, and I want to add a third. Has anyone ever tried this, and if so did you buy an additional video card or the video card that you can plug in two monitors?

any help at all would be great!

I'm looking to improve my PC speaker system. Anyone know of a good website that deals with this type of thing. I've done some googleing, but I thought I'd ask the pros here too. Currently my Dell has two speakers and a sub. They sound really tinny when I crank the vol. In the end, I'm hoping to be able to wire speakers upstairs so I can use my PC in my office to play music through my house. Wireless maybe...

  Bass with a capo? Grace, Too Bass Tab

Just got the box and watched the silver jet video.

Anyone got any idea why Gord would rock that song with a capo? I play bass and I've never seen it, or seen a reason to do it. I'm sure there is one though. Perhaps, it's just because he's Gord, he wrote the bass line to Grace, Too and he can do whatever he wants.

Thoughts?

PS: thought I'd attach my take on Grace, Too intro for bass.
It's not what he plays on the album exactly but I think it sounds cool.
