Just found this site that sells prints of hand-painted gig posters from the Fillmore in San Francisco. Check out this great one from the IVL tour:

They also have the goalie mask poster from the '99 tour, and one from the 2000 tour with Chris & Kate. But that first one is definitely the coolest Hip poster I've ever seen. I might have to buy me one of those.
Hey, does anybody have any information on his taping policy? I've searched but come up empty handed...
Can anybody tell me what he's slurring together?
On my Ottawa show, and Gordie also does it on the Toronto concert.

Can someone fill that in? And does anyone know where he gets that from, or if it's an original?
The Hip is my favorite band. Them and Led Zeppelin are the most played music i have (White Stripes is actually catching up!). The reason i started to play the guitar was because of New Orleans is Sinking.
Thats probably why i like Led Zeppelin and the Stripes, its somthing i can listen to and the go right to the guitar and play. These songs, to me, really make me want to play.
No disrespect to the hip, i love them and all their new stuff, the only thing that has been bothering me after Day for Night has been the lack of guitar songs.
Maybe its just me but there dosnt seem to be many songs i want to learn from the newer stuff. Sure i love to listen and sing to them, but not really want to play them on guitar.
Maybe its because the songs now are less rocky and/or folky. I have owned their guitar tabulature books and the guitar seems to be just a side insturment to the music and not a forfront member. Songs now seem more complicated and/or are more universal for other instruments.
Thats just IMO. Has any other Guitarists noticed this? Maybe you can send me in the right direction. Open to opinions.

How the hell does an a-hole like this become mayor???
NEW ORLEANS (Reuters) - The mayor of New Orleans apologized Tuesday for saying the hurricane-ravaged city would be rebuilt as a "chocolate" city and for blaming the storm on the wrath of God over U.S. involvement in Iraq.
The "chocolate" remark, which Mayor Ray Nagin made in a speech Monday, struck a nerve, as racial tensions and concerns loom over proposed plans to rebuild New Orleans from Hurricane Katrina.
Several of the hardest-hit neighborhoods were mostly black, and many residents have expressed fears that those areas will not be rebuilt while those with more white residents may be. Before the August 29 storm, New Orleans was about 70 percent black.
"If I offended anyone, I sincerely apologize," the mayor, who is black, said Tuesday. "I need to be more sensitive and more aware of what I'm saying.
"I want everybody to be welcome in New Orleans -- black, white, Hispanic, Asian -- because that's the kind of city that we deserve going forward," he said. "I was trying to, and didn't do it very well, to deal with this whole notion, the undercurrent what's being talked about, and what's being talked about is who is going to come back to New Orleans at the end of the day."
In his speech Monday, marking the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, Nagin said: "This city will be a majority African-American city. It's the way God wants it to be. .... This city will be chocolate at the end of the day."
Other black leaders in New Orleans said they were taken aback by Nagin's remarks.
"Everybody's jaws are dropping right now," City Councilman Oliver Thomas told The Times-Picayune newspaper. "Even if you believe some of that crazy stuff, that is not the type of image we need to present to the nation."
In his speech, Nagin also said a wrathful God sent the hurricanes.
"Surely God is mad at America," he said. "Surely he's not approving of us being in Iraq under false pretense. But surely he's upset at black America also. We're not taking care of ourselves."
In his apology, Nagin said: "I said some things that were totally inappropriate. I shouldn't have made any references to God as it relates to this city. In the moment I got caught up, and it shouldn't have happened."
Nagin also said he has made the "chocolate" reference several times before, including before Congress.
Hi everyone. I'm not sure how many hipbasers sport any sort of body jewelery, but I thought I'd take a stab asking anyway. I currently have 9 piercings and am getting a bit bored with the metals I have in. Does anyone know of an online store with attractive, quality wares? :thumb:

While I have been a 20-yr fan of the HIP, I am new to this messageboard so if this topic has already been posted, please forgive me for the repitiion.
I just received an e-mail from the Tragically Hip, basically updating everyone who's on their e-mail list as to what has been going on with them and what lies ahead.
It was in this particular e-mail that I read the most disastrous and horrifying words my eyes have gazed upon in a very very long time ........
"We are currently in the process of recording a new studio album with producer Bob Rock ..." :x

Bob ruins ANYTHING he touches, and for him to get his hands on one of the GREATEST bands of ALL time, Das Hip, is VERY upsetting to me. All the wonderful musical progress they made with genuis albums like In Between Evolution, Phantom Power and In Violet Light will go to waste with a hack like Rock.
What could they possibly be thinking?!?!?!??!?!!??! I thought they were happy being Canada's bigeest band and playing to sold out mid to large-size crowds here in the states?!?!?!??!!? Do they really need to compromise everything they stood for musically to make a few extra $s in the states? Because that IS what will happen with Bob Rock at the healm.
Never before have I hoped to be SO worng about something.
Anyone else feel as strongly as I do about this??
