just wondering if there are any other tom waits fans around...favourite songs, albums?...

I've been regulary stopping in to check our the most recent entries in THSP. I just read this one and felt the need to share it. Does this belong to a Hipbaser?

The Bastard Mckenzi

I was very excited to have new friends who were interested in different things. One of thease things was travelling to different cities to see rock concerts, or sporting events. The first road trip I made was with several of my friends to see my favourite band, the hip. Two cars went to hamilton that day. One had four of my friends in it. The other had myself, Mckenzi the bastard, and two girls who Mckenzi was desperetly tring to seduce. Now you have to know Mckenzi, he is about 5 feet tall, bald, a computer geek, and he knew strippers by there first name. I don't know how I got stuck with the guy in his car, but I remember watching my friends drive south twards hamilton in another car as we proceeded west taking a wrong turn twards god knows where. Mckenzi's only reply was I can get us there, don't worry. I thought I was going to miss My first concert. After stopping in nowhere Toronto to discover the proper directions we finally made our way to the concert. We missed Part of the Rheostatics but we caught the rest of the show. On the way home Mckenzi decided to spend the night at one of the girls he brought with him houses. I told Mckenzi that I had to be in school the next day and we decided before the show that we were going home. My other friends had already went home and Mckenzi, Who wanted to get some action of one of the canine girls he brought with him told me we are staying. So I was pissed off because I knew I was in store for a long night of Mckenzi's, desperate, I look like a textbook area 51 alien minus the green tinge, I am really cool, love me, bullshit. We got to the girls house and I told Matt I have to be home by 10 so I can catch my second class. If you don't take me home I am going to beat the shit out of you and steal your car. He said ok. One of the girls found me a couch in a livingroom downstairs, full of cats. I found a corner, of the cleanest couch I could find, and tried to sleep. At 2am one of the girls woke me up by talking threw a PA system they had in the house. I can't remember what she said. I remeber only my reply. You had better be getting Laid you scronny little bitch. That was the last time that night I heard frmm them, but the cats seemed to want to cuddle with my face. I remember throwing one of them against the wall. Sorry PETA. The next morning I woke up Mckenzi at 8:30. I told him we have to go. But he didn't care. He had a slow way about him. I think he had some sorta chromazone problem. He never got laid, I asked him on the way home and he said. Its not like that at all Jay, thease girls are just really good friends of mine. I got home at 11am, and got to school for my last class tired. That was the first Hip show. I have seen them about 15 times in total. As for Mckenzi, he went on to ruin severl more road trips for me and my friends. One time he decided to have a nap because he was too tired to drive the rest of the way home. Home was 2kms away. I slapped him in the back of the head and said drive now or I am walking. He told me he was going to slap me back. That was the funniest thing he had ever said to me. The final straw was a Toronto Montreal game. I was driving a rental Van, and several of my friends to Montreal. We were to pick Mckenzi up at 11am to be on the road. He was told to be there. But he wasn't. We found him at 12am and he told us to wait. I had friends who were on the road at 4am so they could be on time. I yelled at Mckenzi infront of everyone and called him a usless. He cryed. I felt bad. We never took him on a trip again.

Unfortunately, my own personal rating system in not very thorough, so although I've heard this show at least once, I can't say for sure how good it is. I just burned it for a fellow trader though, and thought that I'd give everyone else the chance to grab it while it's still on the hard drive. I did give a quick preview to a few songs, and the sound quality seems to be pretty good.

Question:

So what is the deal with the cap if some unforeseen tragedy befalls a team mid-season? EG: Detroit and Jiri Fischer.

If the guy is never gonna play again, or is killed, what is the deal with the cap? Does his salary still count towards the cap?

Today, Monday January 23rd, is election day. Please go and vote. We've all heard the cliches, we've all fallen asleep during the civics class, and we all know that young men and women gave their lives for this imperfect but important democracy. As somebody who is currently working on a campaign, I can tell you that over the past two months, an incredible amount of hours have been invested by volunteers, students, senior citizens, parents and grand parents of all political stripes.

Your vote does matter. In my riding, 34 polls were won by 5 votes or less, two were decided by a single vote, and one tied. People who claim that all politicians are crooks and folks who only care about their own personal well-being are just plain ignorant and selfish. Make a difference, give a damn, go out and vote.

Like it or not, the decisions made on Parliament Hill will affect you. The tuition you pay, the army you join, the child care you use and the medical system you need are all issues in this election. We live in a country that is fortunate enough to be arguing over how to spend a surplus, cut taxes and improve a publicly funded medicare system. We are indeed a nation blessed.

Polls close at 9:30pm tonight, and you're legally allowed up to 3 hours off from work today to go out and vote. You just need to go to your local polling station with two pieces of I.D. Go vote.

I just saw this band perform on Austin City Limits and loved it. I had never heard of him and his band before, but his stuff is right down my alley.

Anyone out there a fan, or familiar with them? I'd be grateful for your random thoughts, comments, background info, recommendations, etc.

well it was a year ago today that my daughter was born where did the year go
