hi everyone i was just wondering if audio ever surfaced from the vancouver club gig at richards on richards from june 2004 and also i know there was talk of a dvd of the 11-14-04 gig at gm place in the works. has any of this stuff made its way out yet?

I was reading the thread about "No Threat" and it got me thinking about "Gus." To This day and countless times listening to it, I still can't find a liking to this song. And what confuses me even more is that they played it at both Toronto concerts in 2004 and its on the greatest hits cd on Hipeponymous. I could be wrong, but it is definitely not a fan favourite. Am I the only one who feels this way about "Gus" or do you agree with me?

Dear Hipbasers,

In light of recent events in my love life, I have come to a very crucial decision. I am going to become an e-mail-order bride. Since you have been such a warm and welcoming community I figured I'd give you all the first shot. I am a very healthy, humorous, well-educated 22-year-old American female. I love music (obviously The Hip), cooking, running, swimming, photography, good beer, piercings, coffee, fireworks, beaches and writing. Since many of the 'basers are Canadian and come from a more enlightened country than my own, I feel I owe it to my potential lifemates up North to inform them that male or female may apply. I will relocate to the desired location of the highest bidder. Good luck, and dig deep into your hearts and pockets.

Hey folks,

Not proud to admit it, but man enough to do it. I went to the Bon Jovi concert on Saturday night in Toronto (actually took my wife for her birthday, so its not as if I went on my own accord, and I did owe her since she spent two nights in the sweaty Odeon in Cleveland with me and friends in 2002 to see the Hip). On the way to the ACC, all I heard on the radio was how "people thought only U2 could sell out 4 shows in Toronto" as they did in September, and now Bon Jovi proved they can do it too. Of course my wife couldn't help rub this in my face, noting the Hip haven't done it. And although my immediate response was, they don't need to do it, it did get me thinking as to why they don't? They did two shows on the Evening with tour, two shows on NYE and NYD 1999/2000, so why not go full steam with at least three shows? Of course there is no debating a die hard Bon Jovi fan when comparing them to the Hip, so I didn't even try, especially when its my wife. But you know what? It wasn't a bad show. I don't care for his style or brand of music, but it was an energetic show and I was entertained. There said it, let the lynching begin. Does anyone else share this thought with me? If they are the largest band in Canada, why not show everyone? U2 did it, Bon Jovi did it, the Stones can easily do it, let the Hip do it. I know its not like them to go out and prove anything to anyone, but it would prove alot to people, and it would keep my wife quiet for now anyways!

We are all familiar with Gord's great little live addition to Poets where he interjects "Bring out yer dead!" after reckoning carts...

Previously I wondered exactly when that first appeared.

I was listening to the Toledo 08 22 98 show again after being reminded of the show when it was posted to the tracker and I noticed that, yes, he did say it in that show.

I think I have noticed it was not on 07 07 98 but he may have said it prior to that date. Not sure.
So I had a little project:

If anyone, in their travels, hears him say it and the date is prior to the date I arbitrarily want to start from, then post the date and show. Keep posting until a possible date is found. Excluding dates in the time-frame may help too.

I've posted just a few comments on politics, much to the disagreement of Skippy, and others who didn't (and don't) support the Liberals. But now the argument over platforms, and pre-election promises have come and gone...

There is a new Prime Minister, a new Government, and I'm curious as to how long the Hipbase members think this Government will last.

The Liberals did better than expected, the Conservatives didn't get the majority they needed. With no political ally in parliament for the Conservatives, and essentially a much more fragile minority than the last Government, I'm not sure how long this Government will last.

The Liberals will have to develop a new leader, the Bloc isn't sure they want to wait too long to force an election, based on gaining federalist support, and the NDP have experienced a 50% surge in support.

How long will this Government last?
