  Gord Short Film & Poetry Question (At The Quinte Hotel)

this may have been discussed here before, but i couldn't find any mention of it. i was watching the independent movie channel the other night...and they were showing indie short films.

there was one that i caught the middle to end of, in which gord does a poem and plays the part of a bar patron who knocks a guy out in the film. i can't recall all the details of the short film, but there are a few shots of a glass of beer, the foam in the beer and gord describing it...then he recites the poem to the rest of the bar from a little pocket book he has...at one point he's sitting on top of the guy he knocked out...

anyway, does anyone know the name of this short film, so i can be on the lookout for it and watch it in it's entirety. i'd like to get it on tape this time. i thought it was really well done. i enjoyed gord's "performance" and poetry as well.

if anyone has any info they would like to share about it, please let me know. thanks very much. :wink:

This album's got a lot of sentimental value for me. I think the best examples of Gord's poetic prowess can be seen in this song. It reminds me of a night I spent in Hamilton after a show where I stayed in a horrible 'Motor Inn' of likeness to the one described in the song.

This song, for some strange reason, reminds me of Ian McEwan's novel 'Atonement'. If anyone else here has read the book they can probably draw the same conclusions through the tone and mood of the song.

The following are the top 10 pop songs from 1989:

When I hear these songs I think of the cheesey '80's and these are almost considered oldies for people in their early 30's, if not from a long ago era.

But when I hear:

New Orleans is Sinking
38 Years Old

which were also recorded in 1989, they seem current and 80's music is the farthest think from my mind.

Just an opinion.

Looks like Wisconsin and Ohio State will experiment like the Heritage Classic and the Michigan/Michigan St field game. Not sure how many of you guys and girls follow NCAA college hockey but Wisconsin has to be the favorite in this one.

Looks pretty interesting. Wonder how many will attend. I cannot imagine Lameau being used for anything else.

Would you guys go to one of these games if you had a chance?

Well, the games have been officially declared open...so I was figuring we should declare an Official Olympic thread open.

By the looks of things, Canada has sent a great team this year...hopefully this year we can avoid the bad start that somehow plagues our Country. I think 3rd place overall in the medal standings is not out of the question for us this time around, as we ramp up for the 2010 Games.

It was a dream of mine to make it to the Olympics one day, and I still get choked up when I hear our National anthem play as an athlete stands there and sings along...what an amazing feeling that must be. This is my Super Bowl...I can't wait to see how it all plays out.

That I and 15000 (or so) other Hipheads were getting ready to see the Hip perform at Maple Leaf Gardens for the first time (as a headliner) also on that bill were The Odds and Change of Heart. Two things stand out from that night after all these years. 1) Gord's first line " What a dump" 2) 50 Mission Cap. Even though I hate the Leafs, to hear that song in that building with Barilko banner hanging high above. Anyone else with thoughts and memories from that faithful night. Big Grin
