Can anyone recommend a hip track that would be fairly easy to learn (from what I saw the basic structure of Bobcaygeon seemed quite simple, but I may be very wrong).

Was just wondering this as I looked through my iPod and realised that a lot of the artists whose songs really spoke to me were Canadian.

Not only The Hip, but Rufus & Martha Wainwright, Joni Mitchell, Alanis Morissette, Neil Young and Our Lady Peace...

so I guess you could say that, in my collection at least, a lot of the heart in modern music lies in Canada! :thumb:

Hello all,

I'm a relative newbie to The Hip, and currently I only own to albums ('Up To Here' and 'Music @ Work') plus 'Yer Favourites'. So, I was wondering what albums people think I should get next (in essential order if you see what I mean? :oops: )

I really like songs like 'No Threat', 'Bobcaygeon', 'At The Hundredth Meridian', 'My Music At work', 'Courage' etc - but I also really like the sound of 'Lionized' from the gig last night.

So, what would be a good place to begin buying albums?

Every version I've found has the ass end of the song cut off.

In my opinion, Gord is the best rock'n'roll frontman hands down. Though their are several others who come close, none (to me) have the same combination of charisma, spontenaity and pure ability to get lost in the music. In concert he demands your attention, just by the pure fact that if you look away you may miss something. Never does he stand in front of the mic and phone it in. Simply singing the lyrics as per the album sleeve will not suffice as it does for most every other band out there. This guy is a true artist, and musical genius.

There are other frontmen who have been able to do some of what he does. The charisma and ad-lib of Robert Plant, the spontenaity and demanding-your-attention of Johnny Rotten or the lost in the music quality of Jim Morrison. (mostly due to intoxication :wink: )

Any others have an opinion on this, or want to give their opinion on other frontmen they're fans of?

The Tragically Hip are currently on a small summer tour and working on a new studio album with Bob Rock. A rumoured release date is October 2006 (as stated by Hip guitarist Paul Langlois on June 12, 2006 during a radio interview on CFPL-FM London, Ontario). New songs that a rumoured to appear on the album are "Pretend", "Fly", "The Drop Off", "You See Details", "Ocean" and "The Lonely End Of The Rink
