fuck was that an unreal show last night in vancouver at the orpheum...got to go down with some contest winners, and the show had it all...dave played accoustic the whole show as advertised..the violin was a great touch for every song, and a keyboardist who pulled out the accordian for a few tunes..and Pat Smear was in the band!!!!! great versions of Walking after you, Everlong, and Best of You, in fact the entire encore were 3 of the coolest tunes i've ever seen/heard live before..dave's intro for Friend of a Friend was humorous, and touching as he never said "this is about Kurt", but he made it obvious (to those who've heard the song know how cool it is)....as for that thread about "best frontmen", add dave to the list..had the crowd in the palm of his hands, and had us laughing so hard between tunes..gave a couple "shit" for showing up late " you couldn't make it on time eh??? gonna blame transit??"..., and gave another girl a hard time for taking a "piss break" as he called it.."shit..you're gonna miss the best part of the show!!" what a great night.

Syd Barrett, one of the original members of legendary rock group Pink Floyd, has died at the age of 60, the band's spokeswoman has confirmed.
He was born Roger Barrett in Cambridge and met future bandmates Roger Waters and David Gilmour at school there.

The guitarist was invited to join Pink Floyd by Waters in 1965 but left three years later after only one album with his mental state affected by drugs.

"He died very peacefully a couple of days ago," said the spokeswoman.

"There will be a private family funeral."




He had suffered from diabetes in recent years and had not been recording music.
From the BBCI hope he's finding the peace and quiet he craved...

Hey folks...

Everything is edited and ready to be burned, but I have 13 GB in total. I would like to fit it onto a 4.7 GB disc, ideally, but if I have to, an 8.5 GB disc. How do I compress everything to fit, but at the same time not losing any quality? Any ideas? Chris Chris??

Great show tonight! Sammy and the boys rocked the hell out of the place as usual. It was my first time seeing them since the new album came out, and the new tunes sound amazing live. "Mind Flood" was especially brilliant. 10 glorious minutes of kick-ass rock n' roll bliss. I don't remember the exact setlist, but here's what they played in no particular order:

The Resistance
The Gate (much more intense than the album version)
Paranoia
Hard Road
Bridge to Nowhere
Uprising Down Under (beautiful!)
Mind Flood
Brother Down
Dead End
With a Bullet
Don't Walk Away Eileen (this one never fails to bring the house down)
Where Have All the Good People Gone (great crowd sing-a-long)

There was one other song they played during the encore that I didn't recognize. Perhaps an unreleased b-side?? The setlist looks short on paper, but they jammed out on a few of the songs with a couple of them going well past the 10-minute mark. They were on stage for at least 90 minutes.

I'm getting in ahead of time here. My girlfriend and I are off to Amsterdam on the 17th, not long after some of you guys will be returning from there. So, if you find any bars/clubs etc that you'd recommend, please let me know about them.
