I have never won concert tickets before. Here was the email I got:
Congratulations, you are the winner of a pair of Tragically Hip tickets for the concert taking place at the Save On Foods Memorial Centre on Sunday, January 7, 2007 @ 7:30 pm!!!

Tickets will be couriered to the address that you provided with your online entry prior to the date of the show and will require a signature for release.

Please note that the Contest Sponsors are not responsible for lost or misdirected tickets, or if you are not permitted access to the venue for any reason whatsoever (e.g. if you have a recordable device on you, etc.).


So fucking stocked for this. Doesn't say anything about a meet & greet but I'll take it! Funny thing was that I have tickets for Monday and was trying to get some sunday tickets. Full report to come Monday morning.

Hi guys.

I'm new to the Hip, only recently discovered them via the Pearl Jam tenclub forum where there is about a 50+ page positive thread about the Hip in the other music section, being noisy I started reading the thread and liked what I was reading and ordered 'Yer Favourates'. I like it alot and now i'm pretty sure I'm going to buy up all the albums.

The problem is i'm from the UK and the albums are pretty much import only also i'm between jobs at the minute so cash is pretty tight and I can only afford an album every so often. So if you hardcore fans could give me alittle more info about which albums are the considered the strongest and ones that generally aren't so highly regarded i'd be grateful. (I know opinions generally vary, but normally there are a few albums most love and a few that are generally concidered weaker by the fans).

Been going to Bobcaygeon all of my life.Last couple of years they have put on pretty good shows on or abouts canada day,at the arena which can hold 1200 patrons(hint hint).this year david wilcox and april wine played and i managed to video capture some classic canada.my dream would be for the hip to play this arena and come party afterwards at my trailer park Smile p.s-call me Bernie!

Hey everyone,
I started compiling and editing today for a "Best Of 2006" compilation. I want you guys to weigh and tell me what versions of songs / what songs should appear on it, as I don't want it to be just my opinion as to what is the Best of 2006.

Send me a PM on what tracks you think should make the cut. I can't wait to here from everyone.

Also... should I edit the tracks so they flow into eachother and sound somewhat like one concert?

Well, I don't know how many Sadies fans there are on this board....but The Sadies are playing on the 18th, the night before the Regina Hip show at Amigos in Saskatoon. I think there's a very slight possibility that the Hip could show up....if they have nothing else to do that night.

Anyway, the Sadies are one of my favorite bands right now, along with the Hip, so the weekend will now be even more perfect for me, than it was already going to be(with front row tickets on the 19th). Just spreading the good word.

With a few new songs being leaked I thought it was time to get excited about this.

The name of the new disk is Neon Bible and is rumoured to drop in late March.

2 new songs on the album for sure are Intervention and Black Wave/Bad Vibrations. Apparently Intervention was supposed to be released as a single for charity but Merger accidently uploaded Black Wave instead.

Live shows in Montreal and London sold out instantly. 5 shows in each city with all the venues holding under 800 people. Tickets for 5 New York shows go on sale Jan. 5th.

Here is alive version of a song called No Cars Go that may be the first single but nothing concrete yet. Enjoy:

A "Dan Aykroyd" e-mailed me today (no idea if it's the legit brother of Blues or not) and suggested that the lyric from Vancouver Divorce about a train and a horse is linked to an Alex Colville painting. Seems to make sense, and the painting is cool:

  Hip at New Year's...in Regina???

Had a neat little "Hip" moment during a New Year's bash in Regina...given the smallish Regina presence on this board, and the size of the venue, I'm guessing no one else was there, but I just have to mention it...

The venue was The Drink (a newer bar that holds about 500), and the band was BILF (great party band, great musicians and the drummer used to live in my basement!)...anyways, just shortly after the 12:00 festivities, and with the dance floor still packed they kick into New Orleans is Sinking, and everyone is into it big time...as they finish up, an impromptu "Hip, Hip, Hip" chant starts...now I don't know if I started it, but I certainly joined in right away...probably 20 or 30 people chanting a good 15 or 20 "Hips"...and what do you know, the band looks at each other, chats a bit, and decides to make an adjustment in their play list...next riff, "Blow at High Dough"!!! And just as Bobby describes in the DVD, as the intro ends, and the big down beat kicks in, you can't help but jump around...pretty much the whole dance floor was pogoing...good times, a little hung over yesterday, but all in all a pretty good new year's considering the plans didn't really come together until the day before.
