Selling my Vinyl copy of Day for Night. They seem to be selling in the neighborhood of 250-450. Of course this is not a sealed copy, it's a played copy. It's in great shape and has been played fairly regularly. Great sound, no skips.

Make me a reasonable offer. At this point I am not interested in any trades unless it is Live Between Us or Trouble at the Henhouse which I would of course be putting more money into.

Desperate to get a copy of the Skydiggers track...

I know this is not Hip Merch, but thought Id throw this out here.

I am looking for The Tea Party drumhead that was signed by them from their most recent album. It was sold as a bundle with T-Shirt, Album etc.
Has the Album artwork on the head.

I have Hip stuff to trade, posters, Vinyl and other goodies.

One thing that astonishes me, especially in this day and age, is how the whole situation was kept under wraps until the major announcement. I work in health care, and I know the importance and value of PHIPA, the health information privacy act, but still shocked that nothing trickled out about Gord's situation. Kudos to all who were involved in his care...

20 years ago this month the band was busy revving up the touring machine as they were about to embark on the highly successful Canadian leg of the Trouble at the Henhouse Tour. I had the pleasure of seeing them on that tour and, as many others on this form will attest to, the band was in peak musical form. This is evidenced on Live Between Us, birthed almost 20 years ago on November 23rd, 1996.

On November 5th, 1996, three days prior to the first show at Pacific Coliseum, the full band answered email questions pertaining to a wide variety of topics that had been submitted by fans through CANOE.ca. The recent post by member arewhyehen seeking questions for his upcoming Rob Baker interview got me thinking about asking the band questions 20 year ago, and while pondering this I decided to see if the article still existed somewhere on the internet. For those that are interested in occasionally looking back I’ve posted some of the more interesting questions and answers below. I’ve edited the session for brevity and will split the interview into seven posts (Lyrics, The Band, Influences, From the Bin, Music, Oh Canada and Live Shows) to make for easier reading.

LYRICS
Q. What is the significance of "water" in most of your songs? If you listen, you will hear the number of times water is mentioned.

A. "Water is stronger than rock." Water threatens to, at any time, flood in and obliterate the chalk drawing. We leave a temporary impression similar to that of a hull on the surface of the sea. I could go on and on. - GD

Q. Hello guys! My fave band, of course. I even have a signed "Day for Night" poster in my basement that I purchased at the Edmonton Bear Auction (FM 100.3). Anyways, here is my question: For many years I have been wondering what "Blow at High Dough" actually means. What does this title mean? Thanks a lot, and will be seeing you Wednesday, Nov. 13 at the Northlands Coliseum.

A. Blow At High Dough probably means going full out so to speak, burning up, too quickly, etc. - PL

Q. What is "Scared" really about?

A. Fear of obsolescence? Fear of Fraudulence? Fear of Fear? A fear-peddlar going door-to-door selling ... you guessed it ... Fear? - GD

Q. Who is Cordelia?

A. Cordelia was used as metaphor. I dunno, read King Lear - Shakespeare - GD

Q. Would you please explain the phrase "garbage bag trees". My stepson Graeme has noticed that this phrase appears in two of your songs. I apologize for not being able to recall which songs they are.

A. Graeme is a good boy - I don 't recall which songs they are either - but at the time, it was Winter heading into Spring when trees are without leaves and seem to attract garbage bags that roost in their branches. – GD

She Didn't Know, I'll Believe In You, Three Pistols & Little Bones as well as Blow & NOIS were songs our band played all the time back in the day, and listening to these versions bring it all back to me. Early version of Looking For A Place To Happen, a couple unreleased tunes, a Ron Wood version of a Bob Dylan tune and classic Gord. I hope you enjoy the trip back to the early days.

Transfer notes:
The source tape is from sixer. For more background on this recording, see his story
below. The tape is in very good condition after more than 12 years. It was played back by
a Technics cassette deck, and recorded through a Sound Blaster Live PCI card at 24 bit,
48Khz. With Cool Edit Pro, I restored clipped sections, removed tape hiss and dc offset. I
also increased the pitch, (speed), very slightly. All processing in Cool Edit Pro was done
at 32 bit resolution. Noise shaping and triangular dithering were used to convert the wav
files to 16 bit, 44.1 kHz. Because this recording comes straight off the sound board, there
is very little audience noise. This is a huge upgrade in sound quality over the seed I
posted on etree a few months back. Also, "Fight" is included in this version. Most version
that I have seen did not include the Fight because of a tape flip. The first track starts mid-
way into the song, see sixer's notes below. It is my opinion that this is the best sounding

This is one of the best early Hip shows around. Gordie was in "Extreme Gord" mode on
this one! Some of the most unique and clever Gord rants ever. The between song stuff is
classic, too. If you are a Hip fan and don't have this one, GET IT! Includes never released
classics "Crack My Spine" and "Ouch", as well as a rare cover of Bob Dylan's "Seven
Days", as this show was played on Bob Dylan's 50th birthday, and Gordie wanted to pay

I only can say: WOW. I had no idea this show was in circulation worldwide. I mean:
believe it or not, I taped this show. Here's a little story: I heard the Hip for the first time
in November 1990 and was sold. I really loved them. A few months later a friend of mine
who worked at the club as a cook came to me and said: hey, you wanna cook for the
Tragically hip? And I went: say what??? He told me they were gonna play there and I
could help out in the kitchen and meet the guys, so I did. It was awesome. (We had
vegetarian chili) Earlier that day I met the guys and asked if I could make an audience
recording of the show. Gordon said: That recorder sucks, why don't you use the one
connected to the mixing deck. My mouth fell open. He told me they collected bootlegs of
the Police an the Golden Earring and some other bands. I could tape the show if they
could have a copy. A bit of a shame the engineer forgot to start the tape at the beginning,
I was still backstage when all of a sudden the band decided to start the show. I rushed to
the front of house to start the tape, unfortunately halfway the first song. Also Fight is
missing from this tape, it was played between Three pistols and Little bones, but during
that song the tape had to be switched. On my copy of the tape it's still there (cut), but I
guess somewhere in the line of traders it got lost. Anyway, after the show Gordon and the
guys (including me) listened to the tape in the dressing room and we had a blast. They
wanted to have the tape and promised me a copy if I could show them a Record shop
where they could buy bootlegs (I happened to know that shop). So the next day (they had
2 days of, I guess) I met the guys again in the city of Hengelo and took them to a little
place called Pop-eye. They loved it. At the time law-enforcement didn't work as well and
boots were all over the place. Gordon smiled and gave me a copy of the tape they made
in the touring bus: "as promised" he said. Well, I guess that's most of the story. My tape
has been played so much I keep it in the faults, so I'm happy to have this one on cd now.
