Hey all – As most of you know (or don’t know), I have a massive Hip collection (over 400 pieces). I’d like to start the next phase of my collecting – copies of setlists. Before posting this, I checked with fellow collectors and admin to ensure I was not stepping on some sort of sacred land or breaking some kind of “collector’s code”. I have approximately 14 setlists – dating back to 1996 up to and including the final Kingston show and would love to trade with others and see what’s all out there. I can provide a list of what I have. Remember – these would be COPIES or I can provide the file electronically. These would not be for selling purposes – obviously. TRADES ONLY. I’ve just kinda maxed out my collecting and figured this would be a cool new project to see how many I could end up with – not to mention, it’s always cool to see what others have. Spent over an hour spilling my thoughs and looks to have gone nowhere . I hope this is not so but if this is the case good bye and should be clearer at the start.

I have had the great luck in getting a chance to enjoy many Hip concerts. The whole package the people, songs and time spent. As I am of an age that was not there for the start but one that had the time to grow as a person with them. It might not have been one clear moment but a kelidoscope of times not even at a concert but on the voyage there or home after. Even some just bringing a new Hip album to friends over seas. Its hard to put into words as I am from BC and not from the Hip heart land. I went to the first of there last concerts in Vancouver and called my wife at the date in Vancouver for number 2 said I want to go tonight. We had made a big night for the first date and she said to me so. Your just trying to hold on to the past and need to let go. I got off the ledge and went home. While reading the set list for that night let out a howl that was heard blocks away. Now if I even think that there is a band I want to see I do. Not to piss her off but that is my religion for me and family more so my father. We never saw eye to eye or spent time doing things of common interest. Though he and I share a love of live music and all that it involves. Now I am rambling but after missing that 2nd concert and reading all the set lists after it broke my heart. That 2nd was made for me but then stumbled onto a concert I could never have seen. Misty Moon that's all I need to say. I met Gord once face to face it was on a forested hillside playing Frisbee golf. He had a Safeway plastic bag with some beers and disks in it. Said hello and walked on by that's why the Hips music works for me. We all are different and also the same. Safe and happy travels in life. We can't focus on the past and miss the now.

First the Tragically Hip Way, next the market square stone, now a former public utilities pier next to Breakwater Park to be renamed "Gord Edgar Downie Pier" for his work with Lake Ontario Waterkeeper. I believe Gord once lived nearby across the road on the north side of King St.

The dock is south of King Street, near the west edge of Queen's main campus. The slightly neglected/underused park is getting a $5.5M+ reno, with $1M coming from Canada150 and $500k from lake ontario waterkeeper

Greetings basers

As some of you know, I feel that it would be awesome if Kingston had a reason for fans to return after the unforgettable MMP tour closer. Ideally I would love to see a permanent museum, and I firmly believe the Bathouse should be a national historic site, but those are massive undertakings. Starting small seems far more prudent.

The initial event I had in mind was a place for fans to share stories, collectors to display their memorabilia and a local "tour" experience visiting the many locations with significant "HipStory"

Apart from that, I thought there may be a benefit to have additional games/activities so that there was something for everyone.

The first things that came to mind were a "HIPardy" game show contest and a "final exam" attendees could write to test their knowledge of the band. Also a "LIVEbrary" bootleg station to share the wealth of recordings that many casual fans are unaware of.

Other potential fundraising activities:

Putts Wigglin - mini golf tournament for the less serious golfers, a round of golf at a Kingston or Bath course for those interested in 9/18
The loney end of the rink - ball hockey and Base, too - three pitch softball mini-tournaments. Both for fun (not full contact or intense competition) with Hip-themed team names/uniforms
- Tragically Chips poker tournament. Enter with a donation, competing for prizes (not cash!)

If this event comes to fruition, what would you want it to look like? What should or shouldnt be included? Please share any suggestions or comments that cross your mind.

So apparently the MMVA's are still a thing, and the Hip won the award tonight for best rock/alternative video for "In a World Possessed By the Human Mind". Good for them!

How do we not have a thread to discuss what we're watching?!?

I'm looking for some reccomendations for some hour long dramas, as I was looking at what seasons of shows I'm currently taking in, and they are literally all half hour comedies.

I guess I love my immature animation... I have just started season 2 of Rick and Morty, and it is one of the funniest animated series out there today IMO. Wubba lubba dub dub!

What are you guys and gals watching?

Order of Canada - Check. Next mission is the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. That's what I will be working on. Who's with me? Who's against me?

All five members of The Tragically Hip will be appointed officers of the Order of Canada, Gov. Gen. David Johnston announced Thursday.

The Tragically Hip frontman Gord Downie will accept his insignia at a presentation “in recognition of outstanding Indigenous leadership” at Rideau Hall on Monday in Ottawa.

Sylvia Maracle, the executive director of the Ontario Federation of Indigenous Friendship Centres, will also be appointed to the Order of Canada “for her leadership in shaping the urban Indigenous experience and for her efforts to promote the well-being of Indigenous peoples across Canada.”

According to the office of the Governor General, Hip members Rob Baker, Johnny Fay, Paul Langlois and Gord Sinclair members will receive their insignia at a later date.
