Hi everyone!
New here and hoping I could get some help.
I have been searching like mad for a poster/handbill from Another Roadside Tour in 1997 (preferably the Ottawa concert).
There is little information about it online and I am getting very frustrated.

Another Hip reference from the world of CanLit: in his short story "On Sleepless Roads" (from the collection Rust and Bone), Craig Davidson describes a character with a snatch of song: "my girl don't just walk, she unfurls."

A great turn of phrase, actually.

Wow, I haven't been on in what it feels like forever & I've really missed this place. What a change from logging on every day to not in over a year. As much of a bummer that is, I have to say being a Momma is awesome!

I had my son Connor in Sep. of 07 & just now am starting to feel more freedom in getting reacquainted with passions of mine (previous to him)...you know, The Hip, Sports, etc.

How have you all been...? I look forward to checking out all the new changes. And I really do hope you all have been doing great... I look forward to connecting again.

Call For Artistic Submissions
In designing the album art for Love At The End Of The World, we decided to trim the fat and cut down on excess packaging materials. We don't like to create excess waste or use more paper, ink, plastic, than we need to. It was on this principle that the decision was made to break from our tradition and not include a booklet with the lyrics. As some of you already know, all of the lyrics to all of the songs on all of the albums are readily available at <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.samrobertsband.com">http://www.samrobertsband.com</a><!-- m -->.

Here's our idea - we're requesting online artistic submissions from you. We are going to create a digital lyric booklet to accompany the Love At The End Of The World album. We'll provide it for free on our website, so those who want the lyrics can download them in PDF format as a digital booklet. Instead of just supplying you with the lyrics, we would like to include an image to accompany each song, ....and we want YOU! to provide them. They can be photographs, sketches, paintings - anything which you feel captures the essence of the music and words.

The image (and copyright control) must be yours, and we must have your permission to use it. Our committee of dedicated and impartial judges (i.e. the band), will choose 13 images from amongst your submissions. All you have to do to enter is email us an image at <!-- e --><a href="mailto:contact@samrobertsband.com">contact@samrobertsband.com</a><!-- e --> (please make the subejct DIGITAL BOOKLET), and let us know which song it's for. We'll be closing the doors on September 28, 2008.

Well, I decided to jump on it this year - since I have not seen anyone else step forward yet.
I have set a live draft for Monday September 1 at 8:45pm EDT.
You can setup your pre-rankings if you do not want to live draft.
I have kept all the same settings as last year.

I have a pair of tickets available for Feist at Massey Hall (Saturday, November 1st, 8PM). Seats are in the left centre balcony. Asking for face value only, of course.

and as I find with just about all AC/DC... (except 'It's A Long Way To The Top' & 'The Jack')...

Could a better, catchier, poppy-yet-earnest-ier song have been written? Nope. Not up here in the Great White, anyway. "In View," from their 2006 World Container release, says everything while saying nothing, exudes feel-goodiness while simultaneously hinting at remorse, and clocks in at four minutes when it only seems like two. Excellent.

Does this finally make the Tragically Hip a-okay with me? NO. I revile them even more for clouding my good/bad judgements. Life is much easier to deal with when it's one-dimensional, and I don't need aging alterna-rock hosers mucking everything up."

Musicians from such legendary bands as Tragically Hip, Teenage Head, The Grapes of Wrath, The Odds and Doug and the Slugs headline Morning Bay Vineyard’s third annual Winestock Music Festival on Pender Island Saturday, August 30 from noon to dusk.

Canada’s only oceanfront vineyard provides a backdrop to an afternoon and evening of fabulous music, great food, and of course Morning Bay’s award-winning wines. From noon to dusk the hills will ring with music from some of Canada’s most talented artists.

Dave Rave, former lead singer from legendary punk band Teenage Head, makes the trek from New York City with side-kick Bill Culp, to bring his unique brand of punk/folk music for the third year.

And roots artist Bill Bourne, multiple Canadian Juno Award winner, brings his eclectic roots music to Winestock for the first time.

Artists will be backed up by Morning Bay’s own all-star back-up band, The Morning Bay City Rollers.
