For me....is to put on the headphones....and sit back and relax.
Sure the Hip sound great on my home system.....but I truly believe to appreciate every ounce of work that they put into their music.....one needs to hear them using a great set of headphones.
As a result...I think We are the Same is now my favourite Hip album. No, it is.
Same goes for the New Mastodon....if ya give that a listen with some headphones...you pick up things you just can't anywhere else.
The wireless adapter inside my HP seems to have recently died. I called HP and took it into future shop and they both said it'll probably have to be sent away, sooooooooooo... I went out and bought a 640 GB external hard drive to back up my computer. I didn't realize that most of the time people just back up their files and pictures etc. What I want to do (if possible and free) is copy my entire computer, so that if something does go wrong with the repairs and they decide to wipe everything clean I don't have to spend the weekend reinstalling all of my software and reconfiguring all of the setting how I have them now. Any ideas?
A Canadian summer is never complete without two things besides going to the cottage & the traditional long weekend kegger. I'm talking about a Tragically Hip concert and a road trip. With that in mind why not combine them both and while were at it lets throw in a whole bunch of other bands and a weekend at the beach.
Lets hear it Hipbase what are your thoughts on putting together a Hipbase road trip to North Bay on the August long weekend for the North Rocks the Bay festival headlined by our beloved Tragically Hip?

I've been trying in vain to track down chords to Goodnight Josephine after seeing Gord Downie play it solo acoustic on YouTube...no luck.

A big wine fan, the Tragically Hip’s bassist Gord Sinclair talks to us about the many similarities in wine and music as arts and industries. Gord tells us how his music got him into wine; about being offered a wine label for The Hip; and we get a wine and food pairing for my favorite Tragically Hip song. We discuss how music writers are a lot like wine writers and Gord gives us the back story on a couple of the Hip’s biggest hits. Read some more and watch the video…
He’s a big wine fan, part of one of Canada’s greatest rock bands, and a Kingston resident; we couldn’t think of anybody better to interview about wine, music and art. If I hadn’t known who he was, noticed the shelves full of awards, Geminis and medals from the Queen in his basement studio, I wouldn’t have guessed that somebody so down to earth is such a big deal in the music industry; a real class act.
We brought over a few bottles of great wine and picked Gord’s brain on how music and wine are similar as arts. What was going to be a fairly brief interview turned into an evening of drinking wine and getting far more insights on wine and music than we had expected. Wine and music both seem to reflect the polarized production of the industrial, high volume, designed-to-top-charts-and-please-everyone arts, through to the personal, small-scale, boutique, representations of the land and winemaker or musician. We learn how Gord first got into wine, how the Tragically Hip were offered their own wine label and how similar wine critics are to music critics, comparing Rolling Stone or Spin magazine to the Wine Spectator or Robert Parker.
Completely unwine-related, Gord gave us the real stories on the curious, highly enchanting lyrics from a couple of our favorite Hip songs and we even went as far as to get a wine, food and music pairing for my favorite Tragically Hip song…Long Time Running. For the record, a sunny summer afternoon song such as that is best matched with a bottle of crisp cold Louis Jadot Bourgone Chardonnay and citrusy pan-seared scallops.
A very large thanks goes out to Gord for taking the time to drink some delicious wine with us and to chit chat about music and wine. It was a fun night and we certainly hope to repeat in the future. Enjoy the video and try the wines yourself!

Anyone have any idea if the Hip is planning on announcing any other shows in Atlantic Canada, specifically St John NB?? I dont want to pay the amount of the Virgin Festival when i can see them in St John where the sound is excellent + its indoors.

I had caught Tuesdays opener show at Artpark and my Brother in Law offered his spare ticket for night 2 and i jumped on the chance. At around 5pm my night turned to nightmare. 
hock: My brother in law calls and says we have a little problem with the tickets. i figured he promised them to his girlfriend and i'm out but instead he says that the tickets are for Tuesday nights show, the one already done, gone, finished. So we decided to take the chance one of the nice elderly ticket takers wouldn't look close enough to our tickets and just let us in like we deservedly should be. :wink: Sure enough we slipped by. Then with the theme from Misssion Impossible i used the Tuesday nights show stub to manuever to the floor. By luck we sat in two seats, 8th row, that the people who had the seats decided to party at the beer line for all but the final 30 seconds first set. The second set we had 7th row floor the entire set. Crazy but true. Mind you, no fans or anyone was mistreated or inconvenienced by the seat hijacking. everything fell perfectly. so The Hip and Artpark still got there money, The Beer Vendor still got a chunk of my coin, and i luckily got to see the show and a great show it was. :thumb:
