The 54th annual Grammy Awards are being presented on January 31.
The 1st annual Bad Music Awardsare being presented on February 1.
I came up with the BMAs as a musical equivilant of the Razzies, and they honour the worst in music from 2009. The site isn't 100% finished yet, but it's most of the way there, so I think I can officially open it now. Please, vote for what you consider to be the worst music of the year, and pass the site along to others if you find it enteraning.
Thanks!
In the process of watching this latest release (thanks btw) a truly classic moment as the first set in closed with "Emperor Penguin". At the end when the band jams Gordon starts singing "Jet". The song finishes in that way.
Classic...
Loved the recent SOTD of The Bastard.
Able to identify with the title quite personally, I was wondering if anyone has an mp3 of it live
(the 1999 live version is gorgeous, but any version is great - I think it was only played a few times on the M@W tour).
Edit: about 15 times played according to thehip.com , but it lists two 2004 performances, which i find implausible...)
My guesses, based on the recent trend of keeping only about 4-5 of the most popular songs from the previous tour... (not wishful thinking on my part - I'd like to see new songs stick around more; rather, a pragmatic guess).
Very likely Disappearers :
-Honey, Please (infectious and - I think - radio friendly, but a little elaborate to play live - may return as a novelty)
-The Exact Feeling (maybe the only "throw-away" song of the album - still, catchy in its album version)
-Now the Struggle has a Name (too damn indulgent, though the moral message is appreciated)
-Speed River (dead and gone, though was kinda catchy I thought, and had single-potential)
-Frozen in My Tracks (maybe an encore surprise sometime in the future)
-Country Day (disappeared already, it's a shame)
SOLIDS to stay (forever?) :
-Morning Moon
-The Last Recluse
-The Depression Suite
DEBATABLE:
-Coffee Girl
-Love is a First
-Queen of the Furrows (hope it lives!!!)

The Hip Tracker
I have an extra pair of tickets to see G'nR at the Air Canada Centre. Thursday Jan 28th 8:00 pm show starts, openers are Danko Jones and Sebastian Bach. And if it's the same as the last time I saw them in '06, the Suicide Girls will make an appearance (weird burlesque show).
Tickets as section 320, Row 9. It's beside the stage in the balcony. Decent seats but I was able to grab floors for myself so I'm using those instead.
Total bill from Ticketmaster was $150.
I'm around Toronto so I can drop off/meet up; I do not mind driving at all. PM me if you're interested.

I recently aquired a 64 gig Ipod touch and bought a black leather flip case but now I can't pry the dam thing out of it its so tight
cratch: I was wonderin if anyone can suggest something similar kinda leather looking thing thats easier to slide in and out or another type of case that you use that serves the purpose that you've had success with, thanks eh
After 12 albums and 20+ years, the Hip's musical legacy can be divided into 2 separate era's. The first era (A) would cover the EP through to TATH. The second era (B) would include Phantom Power through to WATS.
My question to you is:
Which Hip era do you feel the strongest connection? This could mean the group of albums that have provided you with the most musical enjoyment or perhaps have some other meaningful significance.
For some this may be a very easy question. Others may have a more difficult time distinguishing between the 2 eras. For those unsure ( and even those just curious ), try answering the following questions to help determine your answer. A high percentage of A or B answers might shed some light on your preference. Feel free to share your answers.
