  Filmed Atlanta 10/21/09..trade?

Filmed the show in Atlanta, Georgia on 10/21/09. I had a tripod and an unobstructed view on a riser, close to the stage. I would have had killer audio, but my friend forgot his mics (brought the caps, but no bodies, d'oh! :nooooo ), but instead I used my external Sony camera mic. Little distorted at times because I'm so close, but still very enjoyable imho. :thumb:

Looking for CDs or DVDs of other bands, particularly an old DVD of Max Webster would be lovely.

Sexsmith, Metallica producer team up

Ron Sexsmith’s next album could be some kind of monster.

For his forthcoming disc Long Player Late Bloomer, the Canadian pop troubadour has teamed with an unlikely partner: Metallica producer Bob Rock.

“I just wanted someone who could help me make a record that people would actually hear for a change,” cracks Sexmith. “But I was amazed that he was actually interested in working with me.”

Indeed, the soft-spoken singer-songwriter and the man who helmed St. Anger make an odd musical couple. But to hear Sexsmith tell it, their pairing sounds almost inevitable.

“Everything was sort of leading me to Bob in some way. I had seen that Metallica movie Some Kind of Monster and got a good vibe about him from that. Then I met him at the Junos last year and struck up a conversation when we were standing on the curb, waiting for cars to take us to an after-party. Then, later than night, I was talking to Michael Buble and told him I had all these new songs and didn’t know who to work with, because I was sort of disappointed with how my last few records had done,” he says. “He said I should work with Bob. And I was so surprised. I just thought of Bob as a hard-rock guy.”

But after he and the famed producer had a breakfast meeting in L.A. — and discovered they shared a love of classic British pop and rock from The Kinks to David Bowie to Deep Purple — they decided to give it a shot. With Rock working the boards and some top-flight musicians behind him, Sexsmith has spent the past year recording sporadically in L.A., Toronto and Vancouver.


“It’s incredible to hear it coming through the speakers,” he says. “I don’t sound like a fish out of water or anything, but it’s definitely a little more polished than my other albums. Usually, I’m dealing with a low-budget situation where you’re trying to make it sound as good as you can. But with Bob, I’m in good hands.”

With just two songs left to mix, the critically acclaimed artist hopes he may have finally made the album that will stand as his long-overdue commercial breakthrough.

“It’s not about fame or anything; it’s just that I’ve put a lot of work into these songs — they’re some of the best songs I’ve ever written — and I really want people to hear them. So I’m hoping the stars have aligned this time.”

I don't know if anyone has seen this, or if it has been posted before, but I found the following on a UK-based record shop eil.com:

It appears to be a full 14-track album promo of "We Are The Same", plus it includes 2 bonus tracks, Skeleton Park and Hush - so 16 tracks in total.

Seriously, I think there should be a Hipfest, if not as an annual and/or touring event, then at least as one-time thing in Kingston or Toronto. The Hip, Gord, Strippers Union, Plaskett, SRB, Harmer, City and Colour, and other bands he hip have collaborated or shared the stage with could play...IDK, I think it wouldbe pretty cool to have a whole festival of music celebrating the hip, featuring artists that their fanbase also seems to heavily favor.
