Enough time has passed for the new solo album to sink in and really compare it the Hip's most recent release (I know, I know... comparing apples and oranges). It took a long time for me to really warm up to it but I'm starting to lean towards the Ground Bounce. You really get a sense of Gord putting his heart into the new record and the musicianship can almost rival WAtS.

ps sorry if I shouldn't have put the thread in this forum, the content was 50% related to the forum subject, and I figured it would get more view here.

Drove 7 hours to see these guys in Minneapolis on Friday and it was the best live show I have seen in my entire life (maybe with the exeption of Neil in '08 and Radiohead in '08.)

They did an unreal version of Available that led into part 2 of Cardinal Song and it was the single greatest thing I have ever seen, and a version of Squalor Victoria that would rip the skin from your bones.

Go see them now.

Another fantastic show by Gordie and the gang last night in Hamilton!

I'm uploading 5 or 6 vids to youtube, but, in the meantime, here are a few pics.

Here is a link to some photos of performers at Thursday's Edmonton Folk Music Festival. Scroll through the pictures to find Gord (from The Edmonton Sun):

Anyone have any good hip posters to sell? I'm looking for tour posters that I can frame. Thanks!

I am cleaning out my office, and I have a bunch of VHS videos of the Hip and other bands. Most I found on the tracker or other sites, so I know they are out there.

I couldn't find the following anywhere, which makes me wonder if they are circulated. I didn't tape them, so obviously a few people have them via trades, etc. I don't even have a VCR anymore to see how they look and sound, but if someone wants them to convert I can send them along.

Hamilton 2/9/95
Rochester 6/11/96

Picked this up last night and it's very, very good. It's a sprawling 16-track monster, and I've only listened to it twice all the way through so far. I need a few more spins to fully absorb it, but this album might give The Grand Bounce a run for it's money for best album of the year. When a young band becomes critical darlings right out of the gate with their first album, the pressure to justify the hype must be absolutely huge. And I give these guys credit for continuing to make such excellent music and for evolving at their own pace despite that pressure. And I love that they've helped to make Canadian music the coolest thing in the world. I predict this band will be around for a long time.

Just wondering if anyone's heard any rumours regarding any live releases from the tour. (I'm lookin' at you MAv! Wink )This disc is so outstanding - I can't get enough! - So more versions would be totally cool! Not a lot of boots out there yet (I grabbed the Niagra Falls one - it's pretty decent) and would love to hear more. Any sort of soundboard release would be great...

P.S. - Seriously... Yellow Days. This song... it just seeps in slowly, and then quietly, casually spreads through you coating everything before you even know what's happened. It's just that good. I would love to hear the genesis of this one.
