Anybody else fallen in love with this show. Season 1 finale was just this past Wednesday. The best description I've heard is "Degrassi meets Evil Dead... with swearing, and boobs."

Just found out they have a new album coming out on Feb. 15th. Their 3rd album "Let Me Come Over" is a favorite of mine, and I was a huge fan of them back in the 90s. They disappeared for a few years, but returned in 2007 with an excellent album called Three Easy Pieces. Thankfully their reunion looks to be a long term thing. Here's some info on the new album, as well as a free download of the first single, "Arise, Watch". Sounds pretty damn good:

Toronto, looks like, but no date yet.

Just got back from seeing Beside Each Other, the interpretive dance work to CMG and BOTN songs, which is here in Toronto right now. Gord was there too!

I really enjoyed it. I'm not really an artistic person, but I like GD's music, so that was good enough! What songs did they use? Lets see: Trick Rider, Chancellor, Yer Possessed, Elaborate, Insomniacs, Hardcore, Pascal's Submarine, Figment, off the top of my head.

It was also neat to be sitting there with the artist behind you listening to his music as well and wondering what his thoughts on the whole thing were. I spoke to him afterwards and said I really enjoyed the intreptation, it was a neat way to hear his music. He said his part was easy!

Anyway, if you're in the GTA, you should check it out, its on until Dec. 9 - in the distillery district. I can't guarantee GD will be at every performance, but you never know.

Last thing (and really the point of this whole post)...while they played the album version of Chancellor at the very beginning, they also played an awesome acoustic version at the end, which I've never heard. Does anyone here have a copy, or know if its available anywhere out there?

For a few years now, Conor Oberst has sidelined his main band Bright Eyes to crank out a couple of roots-rock albums with his group Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band, and another as a member of Monsters of Folk. But he returned to Bright Eyes recently to record "Coyote Song", a track and video for the Arizona-boycotting coalition the Sound Strike. And now, we're about to get a whole new Bright Eyes studio album, the band's seventh, and the first since 2007's Cassadaga. Saddle Creek will release The People's Key on February 15. We've got the tracklist below.

In the past, the lineup of Bright Eyes has been a revolving door, with Oberst the only constant member. But now the band has a three-member core, with Nathaniel Walcott and Oberst's Monsters of Folk bandmate/longtime producer Mike Mogis joining up. A number of other musicians also contribute to The People's Key, including members of Cursive, the Faint, the Mynabirds, Now It's Overhead, Autolux, and the Berg Sans Nipple. The band recorded the album at their own ARC Studios in Omaha. Mogis produced the album, and he also engineered it alongside Andy LeMaster.

At the moment the band has two shows coming up, both at massive historic venues. They'll play New York's Radio City Music Hall March 9 and London's Royal Albert Hall June 23.

I've been grooving to this tune alot of late.. and have ran through all my versions,,, anyone have a favourite live version off the top of thier head ? )

This is my Christmas list (ok not really but I can certainly dream a bit)....

In a very hypothetical world I can wake up Christmas morning and hop on Hip.com and see the following:

1.New Tragically Hip cd due in the fall of 2011.

2.Summer tour that includes a date at DTE theater (pine knob)....and while I'm dreaming, the opening acts would be Sam Roberts, Neko Case and The Stills.

3.All summer shows will be lengthy shows that are completely different from night to night....and include songs from all albums, deep cuts and rarities.

4.Finally a dvd release of Heksenketel.

5.2 Box sets: #1 would be a live box set (somewhat like Metallica did several years ago), that includes no less than 10 live shows from various tours. #2 Would be the rarities and out-takes set including an entirely re-mixed and re-mastered FC.

6.A few club dates that are Unplugged/Request/Q&A type shows....how frigging cool would that be.

7.A new live dvd that chronicles the last tour.

ok....I'll settle for just some new music in 2011...hehe.

Just a Hip fan bored at work!!!!!

looks like my hip folder got lost in the transfer......

last weekend i got a new pc and without access to an external hard-drive i transfered all my data between the pc's with a 4 gbs thumbdrive (it took a long time!!) i dont know if it was because it was 4 am, but it seems i deleted and didnt save my hip folder (and most other stuff i had beginning with T)

just wondering if anyone has access to zip/upload those shows on audio for me? feel free to throw in 96/2000 saint john shows if ya got em!
