Just occurred to me as I've been grooving on Dylan for a while and back to grooving with TheHip. Which lyrics do you prefer, Downie or Dylan? Have to admit, Downie's are easily as poetic, lyrical and mean A LOT MORE to me than any of Dylan's ever did.
Is he as important as Dylan was/is?
What do you think?
What is your favourite Downie line?
I'm currently looking for some 2002 bootlegs!

Hey all,
Just something I was thinking recently.
U2 being the greatest band in the world apperently...I personally think the hip is a better band.
what do you all think, just comparing bands that have been around for the 20 yr mark.
Also chili peppers...I know these are totally different music styles...but why are they so big???

For any of you who've read the book "The Tropic of Hockey", this sounds like it's essentially the video version of his trek in search for hockey in far-off places (the book is a must-read, btw!)...
Anyway, I mentioned it as "Kinda OT", and couldn't completely chalk it up as a "Non-Hip" topic, due a) to the relationship the band's had with the Rheostatics over the years, and b) the fact the special was directed by a Mike Downie...I may be having a "senior moment" on this one, but isn't Gordie's brother a director (who's done several vids for them) named Mike???

This is the first of the Hip's 2 New Year's shows in
Hamilton (December 30 2002). The recording turned out
very well. There is the some audience noise (clapping ect,)
but nothing annoying and most of it is in between the songs.
I am curious if anyone uses any type of Ephedra?? If you do, how long have you been taking it, do you take the minimum or maximum amount in a day, and have you had any side effects from it?? I know it increases your energy for workouts but can become addictive. Just wanted to know any experiences you may have had. Thanks.

Get this. I am sitting in my hotel in Vegas yesterday, packing my stuff to check out. I get out of the shower and my gal has Regis and Kelly on. It is actually that Simon guy from American Idol and Kelly. They are chatting away and mention that the butler from Joe Millionaire will be out next (wow, American TV is special, isnt it?) Anyway, they begin to fade to commercial and the background music is "Darkest One" by the Hip. What? I say. I wait, and when they return, sure enough, there it is again..."Where the wild are strong...and the strong are the darkest ones"... For a second I think....Did they do a cover? Is this the original by someone else?...I keep listening...it's the Hip!
What do you make of that?

When played with the Dire Wolf I kinda started to believe so.
