In my opinion CMG was an interesting turn for Downie whose poetic verse is easily the most luring since Frost, but I do believe it was not comparable to The Band as a whole. Never would have even made w/ out the tracks most memorable such as "Canada Geese", "Chancellor" and the unforgetable "Vancouver Divorse". The track "Starpainters" is exceptionally tranquillizing as it is most comparalbe to a soliliquy by Joan Baez. The "SF Song" is absolutely enough to send chills down my back as i believe it is the clearest and most crisp Downies voice has ever been. Just wanted to know some other feeling dealing w/ this swtich for the group. Of course I will give Gordie 4 stars because he is the single most amazing man to ever create music of all time :lol:

With the talk/rumour in this forum of a new cd in the upcoming months, I personally believe its' going to be a B-side and rarity kind of thing. Between M@W and IVL, Gord Sinclair did some interviews saying that the group was sitting on an enormous amount of old material never released, and that either another live release is due or a collection/box set of oldies and goodies might be put together. So, in keeping with that, I 've come up with what I thought might be a great concert setlist (without the hits/usual stuff) of rarities and b-sides..tell me what you think

hey, I have made a few posts looking for tragically hip vids without any response at all .... oh well I will live lol. (yes I work full time and yes I have a life LOL I ussualy just pop a vid in before I go to bed. i love spreading good music, ) anyways once I start ammasing a collection of tragically hip vids I will start to offer B&P's to this board as well... I use two hifi vcr's with gold rca cable for the best conversion.. I also record in SPmode on t-160 8 hour vhs tapes . any help would be much appreciated, either trade or B&P... I will trade CD's for vid or vid for vid. links to my audio list and video list are in my signature.... I currently live in Ottawa, On.. formerly from Moncton, New Brunswick.... I hope to trade with everyone in the future... all my audio shows are shn sourced .. i usually erase the shn files once converted to wav.... Happy Trading

Teenager thrown 25 feet in air from Jeep grabs overhead wires until rescued

KANSAS CITY, Missouri (AP) - A teenager was catapulted at least 25 feet (7.5 meters) in the air during an auto accident but grabbed onto overhead utility wires like an action hero and dangled for about 20 minutes before a rescue crew brought him down by ladder.

Joe R. Thompson III, 18, was treated for bruises and scratches at a hospital and was released. "God was definitely in control," he said.

Thompson lost control of his Jeep on Monday evening after another car suddenly turned in front of him. Thompson's Jeep clipped the other car and rolled over and over, possibly five times, witnesses said.

The Jeep's fiberglass top was ripped off, and Thompson, who was not wearing a seat belt, flew through the air, bouncing off three power lines and falling onto what he thinks was a telephone wire and grounding wire. His leg caught in one wire, and he grabbed for the other.

"I just kept saying a prayer over and over," he said Tuesday from his home in the suburb of Blue Springs.

Sgt. Ray Myers of the Blue Springs police said Thompson was "bear-hugging" the wires when help arrived.

The wires were insulated, but the power lines above him had to be turned off before the rescue ladder could be raised.

The driver of the other car, Justin B. Elam, of Olathe, Kansas, came immediately to check on Thompson.

"I just started saying, 'Dude, turn off my car.' He looked around at first, he couldn't find me. Then he looked up and saw me," Thompson said.

Meanwhile, Thompson's father had rushed to the scene.

"I was told he was hanging on for dear life," Joe Thompson II said. "I didn't know they meant he literally was hanging on for dear life."

The father said his son was talking the entire time.

"We asked him how long he could hold on, and he said, 'I can hold on as long as it takes.' His arms were turning blue because it was cold, but otherwise he was fine," the elder Thompson said. "And don't forget, this is a great story to remind people to wear seat belts."

I heard this news last night on 102.1 in Toronto. Anybody else have some info? What do you think the implications for the future will be for the band?

I am simply amazed by these 3 Canadian artists!! ( There is much incredible music that comes from Canada .) Anyway, just wondering about everyone's favorite female Canadian artist and what your fav. album by them is. Has anyone heard anything about McLachlan and her 'new' release? I visit her website occasionally but it never seems to be updated. Looking forward to your opinions and thoughts
