For everyone that does not know /. is a website about computer news. http://www.slashdot.org.
I know this guy that just talks about stories from /. to make himself seem smarter than everyone I work with... Its really getting on my nerves :rambo:
In the song blow at high dough Gord mentions being in a movie in which everyone from miles around is in, can anyobody tell me what movie he is talking about?
Who would it be???
I would like to be Dave Matthews for a day and have his money for a lifetime

This is a subject that makes me very upset. What is wrong with the US, it is supposingly the richest country in the world and yet 71 million of us are without health insurance. I was thinking, if I did contract SARS or any other illness for that matter, how would I (or any uninsued person) get the proper care without going into tons of debt? My husband and I own a business and to pay for the insurance premiums out of pocket is extremely hard, so we canceled it. We are both healthy so it was gamble that we took.
Anyway, what I understand is all Canadians get health care. I realize you have more taxes, but it makes so much more sense to insure all the citizens. What is wrong with our system?
Sorry, I had to vent :rambo: How do you feel about your health care system where you live? Do you get the kind of health care that you want?
Thought this was an interesting topic to discus.

What a corny but fun game to play. I am hooked on these stupid kinds of games!!
Let me know what you think

I assume most of you out there watched this game. Very entertaining. I think this series just became a little more interesting with the little scuffle that occurred following the conclusion of the game. Its going to be a real fun one to watch from now on!! (Bertuzzi looked really pissed, he got a few good shots in. I think one of them landed on the ref though!)
I love to see people smile.. Big smiles, naughty smiles or just a glimpse of a smile, I really love it!
my smile for today was when I saw the neighbours grandchild (1.5 years old) walk on his granddaddies boots and stumbled with two stolen flowers in his tiny hand...
And oh yeah, he began to cry...
But what makes you smile??
Hi all,
I was lucky enough last night to see the strawbs!
Does anyone here like them?
It was a really small venue like 300 people...just a beautiful night of wonderful acoustic music!
Mark Shegelski, an associate professor of physics at the University of Northern British Columbia, explains.
The simple answer is, theoretically, yes. First, let us ignore friction, the rotation of the earth, and other complications, and focus on the case of a hole or tunnel entering the earth at one point, going straight through its center, and coming back to the surface at the opposite side of the planet. If we treat the mass distribution in the earth as uniform, one would fall into the tunnel and then come back up to the surface on the other side in a manner much like the motion of a pendulum swinging down and up again. Assuming that the journey began with zero initial speed (simply dropping into the hole), your speed would increase and reach a maximum at the center of the earth, and then decrease until you reached the surface, at which point the speed would again be zero. The gravitational force exerted on the traveler would be proportional to his distance from the center of the earth: it's at a maximum at the surface and zero at the center. The total time required for this trip would be about 42 minutes. If there were no friction, there would be no energy loss so our traveler could oscillate into and out of the tunnel.
Cool huh!
